14 just refuses to do Overwold interesting for whatever reason. Lack of imagination.
the only map i've ever thought of as slightly inconvenient becaise of too few aetherytes is around idylshire because you have to change the map to click on it. but even that is not a big deal. never understood why this is supposed to be qn issue.
at some point people will complain how all maps are the same
without fun jobs none of the content is fun

The Mamool Ja society was a perfect excuse to put an aetheryte out in the ass end of the jungle but instead they just put the zone right next to Mamook. I'm sure they could have spun the distance in a logical manner. Maybe the aether is fuller out there or something.

Or even by the entrance to the Alliance raid zone… that’s about equally far from both the existing aetherytes, so it would be a good spot to have one.The Mamool Ja society was a perfect excuse to put an aetheryte out in the ass end of the jungle but instead they just put the zone right next to Mamook. I'm sure they could have spun the distance in a logical manner. Maybe the aether is fuller out there or something.

1 central aetheryte per zone main hub, best I can tolerate. Why even bother creating a map when people just teleport hop all around. This game is suffering from people who have 0 patience to play an actual MMO and the devs are catering to that and not bothering with any content in the open world. You can do both of those things without removing flying or atherytes. That would just piss off everyone and no-one would play the game considering the area sizes and how much you need to travel be it as a battle job or a gatherer.
It doesn't need to be dark souls levels of exploration.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind more teleport spots on the map. Although I mostly fly everywhere nowadays if allowed.

I'm on board! More Aetherytes please!I made a post the Quests forum, I think it was, about a proposed mechanism for adding more aetherytes that would double as a gil sink + server wide project, and add missing aetherytes to some of the more obvious locations in the overworld in older zones.
(digs) Found it: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...t-syle-project
Garlemald's upper map was the location that inspired the thread.
Urqopacha for sure could benefit - but like you said, maybe we will get one with the quests there.
The Ruby Sea could use one, although making that one work lore-wise would be rough. It'd have to be built by the locals. Maybe hidden in a sky island behind the volcano.
The far eastern side of Sea of Clouds is another.
For those older zones, to prevent them from seeming too out of place, you could possibly lock access until flying is unlocked and MSQ is done for the base expansion, by having the aetheryte on a sky island or the top of an inaccessible from the ground building. And the aetheryte itself remains invisible until a point in the MSQ where it makes sense to show it, although it wouldn't become attunable until a possible later point (they added the tech for this in Stormblood.)
That'd even work for the newer DT zones - you can't unlock Yak'tel's hidden aetheryte until after you finish base 7.0 MSQ (and the local Mamool Ja are grumbling about the outsiders, but accept the help because who doesn't want more aetherytes?)

I think that little area north of the lake is much more likely since it's inaccessible without flight but currently serves no purpose.
I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.
