    It makes sense they aren't connected though, they aren't being run by the same company. FFXIV is run and developed by Square Enix and FFXIV Mobile is run and developed by Lightspeed. I would be very displeased indeed if SE shared account info with Lightspeed in order to connect the two.

    Sure, in that setting it’s better to keep it separate for security and privacy reasons.
