I don't feel like the target audience for mobile, so probably not.

Yes, but i won't engage with the gacha
I don't play many mobile games because PC master race, but if I have the chance, I will try it out. Playing 30 minutes before bedtime will probably be more than enough to just explore and try the mobile systems and what they have going on, at a casual pace.
You can already do the same with the PC version, just get yourself a handheld PC like my ASUS RoG Ally Z1 Extreme, they can be found for $350 or so used from Facebook Marketplace and such. Or if you want the top specs and double the battery life you can get atm, the Ally X is the one to get but it's closer to 1K new or maybe $700 used if you look around. I can play the full game from the comfort of my bed before going to sleep, I typically do hunt trains and crafting/gathering before sleeping. It's also much more comfortable to hold and play over using a phone and the screen is larger too. The Ally has the desktop version of Windows 11 too, so all of your games, Steam and more work just like your desktop. My Ally Z1E can handle the game at 720p max settings and average 45 fps or more in DT zones and up to 60 fps in earlier expansion zones. It's perfect for the 7 inch screen of the Ally and it has VRR and it's 120hz too.
Here is a YT vid of someone playing on the Ally Z1E (Z1E is white, Ally X is black) so it gives you an idea how it runs. I will also be upgrading to the XBOX Ally X later this year when it releases as it will be more powerful and I hope could do 1080p max settings at the same FPS as it does now at 720p since I use my Ally docked to a TV at 900p with lowered settings to achieve 45 plus FPS in the DT zones.

No - then again, I just don't play mobile games, period, so...
Probably for like 10 minutes then get bored lol. Though I’m curious how much the gameplay matches this one in terms of like how abilities work / class design / etc. Is it full on mobile game style where every ability does like 100 different % bonuses, or a copy+paste of this one where every ability just does damage basically lol
Wow, I never knew Mobile will have a desktop client. If that’s true, then it makes me a bit angry, because I’ve read somewhere that the mobile version fixed the notorious spaghetti code on many levels. Which only tells me that SE decided to run a fixed cash grab mobile version of their own game instead of focusing on fixing the actual game. That then also reveals what their priorities really are.
Pay your surgeon very well to break the spell of ageing.
After reading the thread (and thanks for all your replies) I’m now genuinely angry at what SE is doing with the Mobile as it looks to me like it’s their take on Diablo Immortal. To summarise it, what we are getting with Mobile isn’t an extension of the real game, but a standalone cash grab with paywalled features. Partnership with Tencent only emphasises that point.
I see a massive missed opportunity in not even trying to go down the RuneScape way and creating a true cross-platform FF XIV experience. If a game studio decides to make a mobile version of their game, it’s always for only two possible reasons:
1. To expand the list of devices a game can be played on (cross-platform expansion).
2. Milking every last penny from customers.
Sadly, since FF XIV Mobile doesn’t seem to bring anything of value to current XIV player base, it truly seems like Mobile is just a big greedy insult to the community.

So mobile games which cost money to make and further develop should be 100% free ?
The most major pay for feature that the mobile version of FFXIV has is having to have spent $5 worth of game currency and the most pay to win it gets is Materia. The F2P PC version is more restricted than the mobile version in features does that make the desktop version a paywalled cash grab ?
For some reason western audiences seem to think that all mobile games have no development cost at all and should be fully free to pay with the pay for features so minor that barely anyone would buy them anyways.

Those systems are nice to have, and the video you posted is actually nice, especially if it's perfect for your needs. However, such a choice makes no sense for me, unfortunately.
I use a PC for work by default as well. Also, I have tested and played such systems, and apart from the fact that they transform into devices that can cook my meal too, cleaning the dust is a nightmare and requires somebody knowledgeable as well. Also, 45 FPS is like what, throwback to 2000 gaming?
