I'm afraid that if they don't improve their netcode infrastructure, XIV will never be able to handle well a "true" pet job (which means micromanagement, etc).
I'm curious how BST will deal with this. Most likely it will either just not care about the clunky responsivity or it will be fake, as in only animation based.
The largest problem with pet management, as far as I recall, was simply update rate arbitrarily given to pets (main reason for the ghosting and cast-progress waste) and the queuing system as a whole -- the latter of which was admittedly less intrusive in ARR/HW, as you could then give pet commands even mid-animation, whereas the "improvements" made since prevented that, causing it to function more like an oGCD instead of something with truly no lock-outs.I'm afraid that if they don't improve their netcode infrastructure, XIV will never be able to handle well a "true" pet job (which means micromanagement, etc).

(The actual near-"global" cooldown is the animation lock, which prevents use of any further action typically within 0.5s + roundtrip ping of the one before -- with some actions applying even longer animation locks [Potions, Stardiver] and some following actions feeling locked out longer because they're unable to queue and therefore susceptible to delay by human error, too [Sprint and Potions, both]. The "GCD" is just the further shared Spell/Weaponskill ICD. Pet commands were previously only thing other than target selection and movement, etc. to ignore both.)
I have a feeling it will be something along the lines of blue mages. Collecting pet animations for a singular spell. I would be surprised if they even let us get a "glam" option of having the pet out with you at all times. But with their limited talents as devs, I'd take it. I don't really consider them talented enough to be hyped about much anymore lolI'm afraid that if they don't improve their netcode infrastructure, XIV will never be able to handle well a "true" pet job (which means micromanagement, etc).

They can even "defend" it by referencing Catch from FFV. I assume a lot of people want something closer to XI's version(or just any fully realized pet class in another game), but the odds of that are probably infinitesimal.I have a feeling it will be something along the lines of blue mages. Storywise, I just want another Shadowbringers. Well plotted and executed, character-focused and enthralling. Give the Scions things to do that suit their characters and help them achieve growth.
Otherwise, my list:
- character bonding quests where you can help the characters with their troubles and feel like a closer friend to them
- better alt support, like having alts be on your friend list and housing tenant list automatically
- glamour system updates, more plates and space in the chest (or better yet, a complete overhaul that lets you glam any piece you've ever obtained)
- cross-DC duty finder / party finder
- make the company workshop accessible outside of housing (for a large gil cost, of course)
- the ability to form alliances outside of party finder
That's just off the top of my head, I probably have more I just haven't thought of. Most of these are just dreams, but one can hope...
I want a story as good as clair obscur expedition 33. Is that too much to ask for?
Or at least, I don't want a story as preaching as EW is.
Would be nice if ff14 Picto have art deco motifs and aesthetic instead of cartoonish ones like we currently have.... Personally speaking of course.
8.0 pls give us ability to summon vaguely Nevron shaped creature.
(I mean, like SMN, PCT should be the closest job to creation magic anyway)
okay i will amend my one request (for them to fix the character faces) to include this. IFTC was the best instanced battle we ever got, but they course corrected WAY too hard in the other direction after the backlash that it was "too hard."
