Screw more glam slots, overhaul the entire glamour system to make it a catalogue with appearances you learn just by obtaining the gear. WoW did it.
That's #1 on my list of hopium.

To elaborate a little, I really, really think they should focus more on expanding and improving evergreen content. As in, stuff that you can interact with no matter the expansion. Housing and glamour are the two that come to mind, there's probably more that I'm not just thinking of at the moment. Give players stuff to do in the lull between main story/PvE content.
I would LOVE to be able to sift through appearances and put together cool outfits and then farm for those appearances in my free time but sadly the current system just makes that way harder than it needs to be.
As constructive as many of us are, the responses we're primarily getting (or lack thereof) from the FFXIV team (and consequently SquareEnix in general) is what ruffles the feathers of the playerbase.
SquareEnix: "We hear you and we are delighted to announce that we are going to ignore all of your requests in lieu of our own decision making. Please stay subscribed. Thank you for playing our game; things will only improve at 8.0, in our humble opinion" has been the message we've gotten for quite some time over a wide variety of sub-categories that this game makes up, be it fashion or quality-of-life updates, non-MSQ activities, games or Job design. Be that as it may, there are a lot of good suggestions that have been brought forth by the community and you may expect to get some of them five to ten years from now, if at all.
To add to the list, I would like to get a Gold Saucer 2.0 and update the old location or reconstruct a new theme park for the Living Memory so that we can go there and spend some time having fun.

Exploration mode on raids! More persistent emotes eg: /tea should be persistent and /eat too.
No more wuk lamat- write her out please and ty, make it like lyse, barely seen.
Instanced housing? - GW2 has a really nice system, we could learn from it.
Less button bloat
can't think of much more right now, but i'll probably add more later

1: Job balance needs to be looked at. Tanks have all the cards while healer have few of them.
2: Add unique mechanics to jobs (feels like most job mechanics can be summarized by "this is a spend gauge" or "this is a stamp book") and give them more layers of difficulty. Remove 2 min meta (I think this makes job design safe, but is contributing to uniform job design and inflexibility when it comes to branching out from it).
3: New questing mechanics. 7.3 was a clear starting point with adding puzzles you need to solve. Decent chunk of Dawntrail's story failure is honestly lack of a good vehicle for telling the leadership contest plot. Too much filler of going from A to B to look at dialogue and not enough genuinely interacting with the world.
4: In addition to the above, we need some adjustments to how Duty Trusts feature in the story. We keep dragging around over half the Scions just to fill Trust slots. This mechanic, as it's currently being handled, is holding the narrative structure hostage.
5: New Gold Saucer activities, new in-city activities to add more life to big settlements.
6: I would like to see new jobs be part of job guilds in the new cities. Please. We don't need to keep littering the starter cities with the new jobs.
7: Make backpacks usable in instanced content, then continue expanding the options the same way eyewear have been receiving new options (this was a great addition!!!).
8: Remove job restrictions on glamming gear. FREE THE MEANS OF GLAMMING, REVOLUTION FOR GLAMS!
9: Look into having/adding puzzle mechanics (or just ANYTHING distinctly different from norm) to bosses so that we can have fights that play differently than DDR. I don't mind bosses where I need to dance across the screen constantly, but we should get some vastly different fights too so we can maintain a healthy variety.
10: More weird arena shapes for bosses. Granted, we've actually gotten some during DT's lifespan so that's already a good thing.
