Honestly I don’t think FT is even amongst the top 10 worst things about the design of OC- Learn from Forked Tower, and never again make an exploratory zone dungeon without a “Normal” mode. This was one thing Bozja got right: CLL, Dalriada and DRN were still challenging at first, but able to be done with random groups in the instance, and the harder version DRS was direct entry with PF. OC would’ve been almost perfect otherwise.
OC is basically a step back in every sense of the word from Bozja
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

My wish in that regard: Stop giving so much of a crap about clipping and give us more unique hairstyles. It didn't stop them in Dragon Quest X where things clip like crazy but we look amazing. lol
a glam collection / storage / catalogue / wardrobe. which enables us to collect it all without having too little inventory space. its frustrating and unsatisfying as it is now.
make it shared between characters.
at least one glam plate for each job (including crafter and gatherer) + a few extra for special occasions.

For the MSQ, I want more story instances, I felt like Dawntrail had way too much dialogue.

I consider myself a big casual since I don't even do Extremes, so I care more for the story, glams, housing and QoL upgrades than battle content. Some of those are already mentioned, some of these might be delusional, but here go some of my wishes:
- An engaging MSQ with more well-grounded and lovable characters and less Another End Of The World plot twist. I don't need higher stakes every time. I'd love to see more cozy scenes with our npc friends like that dinner gathering at the Baldesion Annex in Endwalker.
- Finally clearing those big clouds that cover Ilsabard and exploring the continent.
- I'd love to go back to past areas on MSQ. It feels like a waste to create a bunch of new areas every time only for them to be forgotten once the expansion is done.
- Smaller map zones and make all of them accessible since the start like ARR. Instead of 6 zones with half the map locked until MSQ forces to go back to it, split these into 2 areas each. Let us explore the world at our own pace.
- Bring back job quests. Or at least an extra job quest at the X0 level like in Shadowbringers. Job mentors appearing in role quests would be nice too.
- More glamour plates, at least one plate per job (crafters and gatherers included).
- Outfit glamour for dungeon drop gear. That would help a lot for clearing space on the glamour dresser.
- More NPC gear and hairstyles (the Forum Attire... please...)
- Unlock gender restrictions on emotes and gear. Add a toggle button to change between both gear designs, and the change pose option to switch between male and female poses.
- More housing areas. I'm hopefully waiting for an Old Sharlayan residental area but I'd love to see housing districts on the not-main-HUB cities too (Ala Mhigo, Eulmore, Thavnair...).
- Add an extra axis to float furniture.
- Rework gpose like it's on Mobile: full freedom on character movement, sliders to pause and freeze emotes, manually adjust time and weather...

okay i will amend my one request (for them to fix the character faces) to include this. IFTC was the best instanced battle we ever got, but they course corrected WAY too hard in the other direction after the backlash that it was "too hard."

Can't emphasize enough how much I agree with this, I would actually collect if they did this. Gods I wish it were the case so badly.a glam collection / storage / catalogue / wardrobe. which enables us to collect it all without having too little inventory space. its frustrating and unsatisfying as it is now.

For the love of gods, this game should be more alt-friendly. At least drop the story requirements if you've completed it on one character & share shop purchases with the entire account, bare minimum. Support alt friendliness: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/506856-Suggestion-FFXIV-Alt-Friendliness
All I care about in 8.0 is making the jobs unique and engaging again. When the jobs are boring 90% of the game is boring.

Personally, I just the MSQ to be amazing again. I mean, I didn't hate Dawntrail - I'm one of the few here who enjoyed my playthrough of it and didn't really reflect on the issues until afterward. But that's the point really - I enjoyed it well enough, but is that enough?
I want the game to make me feel the excitement/emotion/intrigue and overall investment in the story that I felt during Stormblood (sorry, but I loved SB) Shadowbringers and Endwalker again. I want to get lost in the story and feel the need to rewatch the cutscenes and watch reaction videos afterward again.

MSQ wise:
- make the overall MSQ shorter, but more impactful.
- give us more gameplay elements to do in between all those cutscenes. Minigames, smaller fights, anything to break up the constant stream of story.
- implement branching paths, we have NG+, so players can experience every angle. Make replaying it actually enticing.
Core gameplay wise:
- make classes more interesting to play.
Battle content wise:
- Bring alternatives to "room with boss" endgame encounters earlier. Deep Dungeons and Field Instances were popular for a reason.
- dont just reiterate previous content, improve on what was there and expand the possibilities (e.g. an actual roguelike mode for Deep Dungeons).
- Try to implement additional endgame avenues.
- stop reworking older dungeons and use that dev time to give the players more new max level dungeons.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
