Yes, thats something i agree on. I mean FFXIV isnt enough to bring the PS5 to hits limits but the PS4 is a different issue and so they should really stop the supportThe only console holding the game back is the PS4, it's almost 12 years old and the majority of them have slow HDD too. I hope they stop supporting the PS4 in 8.0 as it would be 13 years old by then. But as far as the whole console debate, the UI works quite well as I play on PC but on an XBOX Elite Series 1 controller with official MS chatpad since I started playing in 2015. The PS5/XBOX Series will last till the end of the decade since they have SSD's standard and such. It's old hardware that's over a decade old that is holding back the game imo.
Really? What made you realize that? Maybe that OP is using the same style of avatar like every single shitpost ever? That they didn't reply a single time after their initial post?
Or that most items on the list boils down to "they should just make the game good instead of bad"
The console players poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague on to our houses.
Look at BG3 as well, they did crossplay + mods. The only thing worth mentioning is that, because of the lack of Script Extender, the mods that can function on Consoles are much more limited, but you can still have a lot of awesome mods. One Thing for the "Mod on Consoles" a few People here saying this doesnt work on Consoles, but i clearly need to say you are wrong, i recently started to play Elders Scroll Online again and fun fact they added Mod Support for CONSOLES, FULL MOD SUPPORT, Modder can download a tool create the Mod and upload it on the ESO Site or somewhere and i can download it Ingame, the Times that "Mods" are a "dont work on conoles" things are changing, and ESO is not the first game with mod support for consoles.
Also, I find it very annoying when people associate mods with cheating by default when the vast majority of mods have nothing to do with cheating but are more oriented towards QOL and customization of your own character.
Imagine having a mod that offers additional dyes, or specific clothes/fashion with additional dye channel enabled/reworked, or slightly modified to better work with other pieces, or to show hair style/ ears better.
As for making a new MMO, and to address the original poster, no. They can still salvage this game. They do have a solid base and starting point, but years of neglect is starting to show.
I can vouch that yes there are mods on console. There are limitations as too what mods make it onto console. There are ENB's that are just too resource intensive for a console but that's understandable. There are plenty of other ways to enhance game outside of graphical fidelity.
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
mmorpgs tend to take 8 to 10 years to make. Better to fix what exists.
I am happy with FFXIV, although I did think Dawntrail was pretty weak. I would like to see Yoshi-P drop some of his side projects and focus primarily on XIV. I also think they need to drop PS4 support as soon as possible.
100% agree. YoshyP and the team are out of touch...
No.With all the issues of the current FF14, do you guys think it’s better for Square Enix to stop the release at 7.x and instead start a new FF MMO, which will have
- a new director and producer
- all races can wear hats
- playable on mobile, ps, xbox, pc, mac, steam and switch2
- jobs with identity
- high tier raids that rewards real player skill
- glam system and housing like WOW
- adoption of third party plug-ins
- make the game free to play with cash shop for nice-to-haves like fantasia, glam and emotes
- free to transfer between servers which will be mainly chat rooms and make all dungeons instanced
- development system where every registered player can place votes on what they want in future release, with votes allocated based on dollar spent.
- old content are regularly trimmed with new releases so as to prevent content bloat
I think people are kidding themselves if they believe that going forward we'll see any major MMO released that isn't P2W and/or heavy on microtransactions. FFXIV is probably the last of the subscription-based MMOs. It's still going strong and (thankfully) Square Enix hasn't gotten greedy with it to the extent that most modern MMO developers are. Shutting down FFXIV and banking on a new MMO would be a disaster for the MMO community.
Your typical modern MMO has the same problems FFXIV has, with the addition of far less content, multiple paid battle-passes, bi-monthly GATCHA-box releases, built around a pay-for-power structure with 99% of it's cosmetics locked behind an overpriced cash-shop, and a constant demand for your time with nonstop FOMO events. And you're lucky if you can get 10 people in the same area without the game rolling over and dying.
You all are standing in a green field looking outward for better pasture when nearly everything out there is a ghastly swamp, and it's going to get a lot worse before it ever gets better.
