That's true but then there's also

"hey our community is really mad and actually leaving, quick lets shoehorn out this thing that we should have had ready on launch."

to which the response by some people is "omg yes this is so awesome, I mean they aren't fitted, I paid for this character, things clip, and the character types have been out over a decade, but wow this is so amazing, this game is the best. People need to stop complaining at least we finally got hats."

People are pissed and they deserve to be, and on the opposite side of that are people who are toxically positive (to which they have the right too tbh) and everyone in between. It is honestly just frustrating seeing this community over the last 10 years i've been playing never collectively standing up for themselves, when this could literally be the best product on the market.

And ya know I never played wow much but I did play OSRS. The things i can respect about those communities is that they seem to hold their dev teams and parent company accountable. Both WOW and OSRS might have luls of getting poor development or corporate concocted greedy ideas, but in lock step they speak their mind and pull their money out to show they aren't playing. It's no wonder both games which are way older than FFXIV usually get what they want and have larger player bases. I mean ffs WOW in particular seems to have pulled a complete 180. Or at least that's the sentiment I gather.

I just wish that this community could be collectively honest and not downplay anything. The devs aren't our friends. Yoshi P. isn't our friend. SE definitely isn't our friend. They're siphoning money from us and the expectation is that they are supposed to support the game properly to create an equal and balanced trade. Not nickle and dime us until things reach a boiling point. That's it really.
