Explain "goofy" plz. It's likely common for the influx of players during the COVID spike.

I suspect this may have something to do with the drop in sub count, incidentally. Like all the excitement about this "Prishe" isn't going to resonate with players who are not FF fans, who simply see an AR that has no apparent thematic link to the rest of the story.

I guess the positive take for SE is that this may create a fairly stable floor for the player count when the non-FF fans leave, but it's a bit of a gamble IMO.

And development cost is based on? Regardless of how much you try to come up with an excuse, all things boil down to Financial cost. The resource used to fund manpower, maintain and develop infrastructure, and construct plans based on its availability.

It's fine to fund other games, but things for a while now have felt like they're at the point of XIV barely getting any money and instead they just use it all on on projects that struggle to break even.

Though they haven't released that much recently and don't even have all that many upcoming games...

Personally, I don't know any video game developers, artists, whatever who would make the effort to learn to read, write, and speak Japanese on the off chance that they might get hired by a Japanese gaming company. Perhaps that's why it's harder than you believe. But, hey, English speaking game developers of the world - go for it!

Tbf, that's their problem, not ours. They need to start investing more of our money into the game, instead of wasting it on failed projects.

Nobody who has played more than one FF would refer to FFXIV as "FF" because that's misleading - SE does use FFXIV money to improve FF... Just not FFXIV. That's why we can get Tactics Remaster (a CBU3 game), FFVIIR (not CBU3 but eats a fuckton of the budget), assorted FF-related mobage (one is FFVII and I think they killed most of the rest).

So yeah, what you want is SE reinvesting FFXIV sub money into FFXIV - and I agree with that! But it's my pet peeve when people think FF is a shorthand for FFXIV in this context x)

As I said in another thread, I personally just think they're desperate to have the GP care about other Final Fantasy titles again, which they don't. Sorry, but remaking the same games 20 times won't suddenly bring you back to the glory days. Its like naughty dog with Last of Us all over again. They'll literally do anything-ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! to relive the high from when their biggest hit came out the first time. Literally chasing the dragon at the cost of everything else. Yeah yeah, funnel xiv money into other final fantasy titles-fine. But at least put SOME of it back into xiv. SOME!! It should not be too much to ask for.

Because again, reality is guess what. If these other games of theirs were so good? They wouldnt need XIV's money, now would they.
None of the income from these other games appears to be going into XIV, so if XIV cant get XIVs money, and it cant get money from anything else either, then whats the plan!! I'm not getting it. and yes I'm still salty that they cancelled the little Kingdom Hearts mobile game-because what are we even doing at this point. I pay for FFXIV and they ignore it, and then I pay for KH and they ignore that too, and then show me Cloud brooding for the billionth time. Being a KH and FFXIV fan is just pure suffering lmfao.
