my point was merely to present an alternative to BLM in killing Chirada, when it was implied that there was none.

his implication was that there's no other way to kill chirada without blackmages. i corrected that. monk range has absolutely nothing to do with chirada. so.
Mobs moving around too much makes it a problem though.
Of course you can kill anything without BLMs, BLMs are just the easier way so people default to this strategy. Why risk figuring out a new strategy if there is a confirmed working strategy? I guess I'm more ranting about people defaulting to a strategy than about MNK being useless per se, hah.

Right. Why zerg kirin when there's the kite working strategy ?Mobs moving around too much makes it a problem though.

Basicly, in FFXI Kirin was done only by kiting (with a lot of time). To a certain point one said "i think this fight could be zerged". It worked.
Then everyone zerged kirin in like 30 seconds.
that mean, using the first strategy you came up isn't the best strategy, there could be something better. that until people take time to thing and TRY, instead to do the first carebear strategy they see on youtube

On a general scale people look highly to BLM and ARC/BRD every patch because.Mobs moving around too much makes it a problem though.

- Convenient since almost every boss released in this game has nasty AoE that isn't worth dealing with.
- More lenient on the combo system. BLM simply have to cast the spell, and assuming it is accurate, goes to the next one. Melees not only have to endure close range conditions, but suffer from DPS since the mob constantly needs to move itself, despite how much hate the tank has.
- Just simply more powerful. BLM will always outshine melee on that perspective, which is fine, you have to manage hate and MP to be efficient. However, to the extent that they completely outshine melee in the damage perspective is unsettling. Like someone said, you can't just gimp BLM, because it would be ToAU all over again. What you need to do is make melee better, simply put. Maybe not be so position heavy in melee combos, but rather do "More damage if attacked from the side.", this would keep the positioning system and make combos not such a hassle for melee.
To put it simply, SE cannot find balance because of inconvenient conditions for some classes to be efficient, and those inconvenient conditions make melee sit on the backside while the BLM's do all the work.
For several years, Kirin required being kited. Then someone got the bright idea to zerg Kirin, which was after the major update to 2handed weapons I believe.
