Oh no, I think you misread. I'm fine with the strats that you listed. I was saying the reason it felt like everyone was doing that other one was that way.
What it really is is that SE just didn't account for Cannoneer being as stupid broken as it is.
I think that's where the 5% was supposed to balance thing but failed since it's a AOE like 8 person with a 5% on every single mobs is rather alot and if you pull in pack of 4. well you have a rather high chance to wipe them all out. don't know if my over math would be correct but so far it's what I have seen like in massive pulls at least 4 dies can be more or less but 4 seem to be to over all in bad luck if lucky well only one will wipe 8+
Yeah this is correct. Also, cannoneer scales really stupidly with classes that run on percentage dmg buffs, i.e. Black Mage. That means that even if you don't hit the 5%, a prepared team can absolutely obliterate even without ever hitting it.I think that's where the 5% was supposed to balance thing but failed since it's a AOE like 8 person with a 5% on every single mobs is rather alot and if you pull in pack of 4. well you have a rather high chance to wipe them all out. don't know if my over math would be correct but so far it's what I have seen like in massive pulls at least 4 dies can be more or less but 4 seem to be to over all in bad luck if lucky well only one will wipe 8+
the 5% dont matter at all for the farm. Its the 3 times 200+ potency that scales with your ilvl and ignores the enemies def. Same goes for any other phantom skill that scales with ilvl tho. Cannoneer just has 3 of these that make it so strong

This ^
And they get 3 available actions as early as lv3. On top of that, its low cooldown + ranged + AoE.
BLM's Enochian and other damage% multiplier may make them stronger, but given that any phantom potency ignores damage reduction caused by knowledge lv difference, 4-5 Cannoneer at lv3 or higher are typically enough to wipe a pull of lv28s no problem. What I'm seeing more now are people picking up multiple NINs to rotate their Dokumoris.

I wish I could trade Gold for Silver to make +1ing my gear less painful. Trying to get gear ready for Forked Tower and hope to clear to the best of my ability means suffering so... so many CEs and Fates. lol
I appreciate the pic used in the OP; it's very educational and helps me better visualize whatever it is people are talking about.
I highly encourage more people to post similar pics in their threads.
How is the scaling with item level supposed to work when you are always set to item level 700 anyway?

Item scales to the special stat that occult gear gives you
+0 gear gives you one point per piece, +1 is 2 points and +2 is 3 points
It’s about 1% extra damage per “point”
The extra main stat you get one occult gear (the +40/80/120 mind/intelligence/strength/dex) also applies on top of the scaling to 700
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
