I would encourage anyone who is considering doing the Forked Tower to give it a try. I understand the “I don’t want to join a discord to do this content” mentality because I used to be the exact same way, but it’s really the only way to do the content the way it was designed.

That's why the last thing we should be doing is joining these Discords and encouraging them to continue doing this with completion numbers.

We got tome relics as a second step because they looked at how many people completed Mandervilles because it was just tomes. They threw a bone to those who didn't like tomes with just the first step. They care about completion numbers and pay attention to those statistics. So if we really oppose this design, we should shun it.

Forked Towers design philosophy is all over the place on how they want it to be partied up compared to how difficult it is that I have to imagine the people designing it had never met a raider in FFXIV before.

I'm right there with you. I've lost track of how many times ive done on the hunt for Oracle to not only still not get it 2 weeks after but my friends who did it first try got it. The RNG and Drop rates in this are a joke.

Whatever your opinion of the discords is sniping spots doesn’t benefit anyone because the discords aren’t stoping you from pugging puggable content they are trying to organise people through content that’s explicitly NOT puggable by randoms. You aren’t sending any message to the discords other than being annoying because you sniping doesn’t change their position because this content isn’t puggable. Square also doesn’t care because they won’t even notice this type of interaction because it doesn’t flag anything

You're angry at the wrong people.

When discord groups organize this content to be cleared, it's because the content won't be cleared without some form of organization, and a public discord server that everyone can join and get clears in benefits everyone.

People are getting mad at "snipers" because the only reason anyone can currently get into forked tower currently is because the discords are organizing it. It's similar to the idea that if someone spawns a super rare S rank, but then was unable to get credit for it because someone killed it before they could get there. That's not entitlement, it's just kind of basic fairness.

You are of course perfectly free to organize a run mid instance, "the discords" would more than likely respect that and continue searching for a new instance to join. But when people are just piggybacking off of other people's effort (in this case the effort of organizing 48 players and coordinating them all into the same conditions,as well as providing resources for people to learn the fights faster and get clears) I'd say that the people acting "entitled" are the ones saying "you should just be carrying me despite the fact I couldn't even put in the effort to queue for line"

And I don't want to come off as unsympathetic towards people who have really intense so ial anxiety and don't want to join a discord community full of strangers. That sucks, and I think everyone agrees that FT should have had an entry system and and difficulty similar to castrum/DLL, made a separate queable savage version. But that's on SE, not the people going out of their way to allow the most amount of players possible to do the content that's otherwise not being done.

Square makes the dumbest systems imaginable and the big brain geniuses on the forums start complaining about other players, like they're the ones who coded the stupid ass entry requirements. Half the posts make me think that they don't even care about doing the content and they just want to complain about Discord servers.

I'm not mad at the groups organizing to do it, because that is the only reasonable way to succeed (though my own experience back when I finished Eureka years ago and tried to do BA wasn't very positive). But I will say that if people "sniping" runs cause those attempts to wipe and fail, that's still entirely the fault of SE designing it this way. Quite frankly I hope the number of people attempting this, much less clearing it, is far below their expectations because that's the only thing that will cause changes.

It definitely feels like they want Forked to be "serious" raid content instead of something that's hard but allows for room to fuck around, like BA and DRS to a degree.

Apparently that's all they know how to do.

If I recall correctly, Eureka Orthros was also 'standardized' to fit the same mold as well (and was one of the biggest complaint amongst many other). I guess they're sentencing every other contents into this EW/DT raiding veterinarian practice for whatever reasons.

...Does repose really not work at all? In Bozja I remember farming some stuff with repose + lost death. I thought I'd try doing that with phantom doom but I get fully resisted every time.

I feel like the whole point of these zones is to have somewhere you can do stuff like use repose, since it's not allowed in the boring main game's design anymore.
