Basically, this made me cancel my sub (I’ve got about 5–6 days left).
The game no longer meets my expectations, and I don’t feel like my subscription is worth what we’re actually getting in return.
It’s mostly a personal feeling, but ever since 2.0, the shift to longer patch cycles (4 months instead of 3) — without offering more content or more engaging content earlier — makes it feel like I’m constantly waiting just to enjoy the game. I waited nearly two months for Lunule to drop, but the rest of Patch 7.2 felt completely empty. Same story with 7.1. Honestly, it’s been the same throughout all of 6.x.
At some point, I realized I was mostly paying to wait — not to play.
QoL improvements take literal years to be implemented. Job design is a mess, with several jobs feeling clunky or simply unfun, and balance patches are slow — often taking 4 months for small adjustments and 8 months for meaningful changes.
On top of that, the increasing reliance on FOMO mechanics and weekly loot caps has become unbearable. It can take months to fully gear a single job, especially if you're unlucky. And things get even worse when Party Finder groups lock content behind strict ilvl requirements — effectively gatekeeping players from enjoying other jobs. Sure, that part is mostly due to player behavior, but the devs haven’t done anything to discourage or prevent it from becoming the norm.
In short: the game feels like an idle MMO now — log in, do a few things each week that take mostly 4h do complete, wait, and keep paying for access to time-gated or limited content.
I know Yoshi-P once said, “If you’re bored, go play something else and come back later.” But the game doesn’t really let you leave peacefully — not if you don’t want to miss anything. And this is the worth part cause... i figured that i needed weeks to think about "should i quite the game ? Give another chance ? i can wait a little more" and then i did the maths and...
