    — in an instance capped at 72 players,it’s like a pebble in your shoe.

This content will never keep people busy for months.
I’m sorry to say it, but Eureka had four maps and was much better designed overall.
This is just a glorified Bozja with even less content in the end.
Basically, this made me cancel my sub (I’ve got about 5–6 days left).

The game no longer meets my expectations, and I don’t feel like my subscription is worth what we’re actually getting in return.

It’s mostly a personal feeling, but ever since 2.0, the shift to longer patch cycles (4 months instead of 3) — without offering more content or more engaging content earlier — makes it feel like I’m constantly waiting just to enjoy the game. I waited nearly two months for Lunule to drop, but the rest of Patch 7.2 felt completely empty. Same story with 7.1. Honestly, it’s been the same throughout all of 6.x.

At some point, I realized I was mostly paying to wait — not to play.

QoL improvements take literal years to be implemented. Job design is a mess, with several jobs feeling clunky or simply unfun, and balance patches are slow — often taking 4 months for small adjustments and 8 months for meaningful changes.

On top of that, the increasing reliance on FOMO mechanics and weekly loot caps has become unbearable. It can take months to fully gear a single job, especially if you're unlucky. And things get even worse when Party Finder groups lock content behind strict ilvl requirements — effectively gatekeeping players from enjoying other jobs. Sure, that part is mostly due to player behavior, but the devs haven’t done anything to discourage or prevent it from becoming the norm.

In short: the game feels like an idle MMO now — log in, do a few things each week that take mostly 4h do complete, wait, and keep paying for access to time-gated or limited content.

I know Yoshi-P once said, “If you’re bored, go play something else and come back later.” But the game doesn’t really let you leave peacefully — not if you don’t want to miss anything. And this is the worth part cause... i figured that i needed weeks to think about "should i quite the game ? Give another chance ? i can wait a little more" and then i did the maths and...

Even though some aspects are fun, like the scattered chests, the loot inside is absolutely not worth it.

    — especially since all you end up doing is FATEs that die in 10 seconds, meaning there’s a high chance you miss them, followed immediately by a CE.
    So it’s return -> FATE -> return -> FATE -> return -> CE.

But seriously, how is it possible that the content hasn’t evolved at all after a third attempt?

I mean everyone how he wants, but there is one thing i need to say

you said the chests arent worth it which isnt true at all, right now there is nothing in the game which is more worth then the OC chests

i thought about cancelling my sub too, but tbh i just broaden my horizon and deceided to do more casual stuff instead only raiding things, so i got quit a lot to do, but i understand if there are people which dont wanna do all the content the game has that they are bored really quick

It's kind of a self-fulfilling cycle with FFXIV to be honest because they release so little worthwhile content so infrequently that players flock to the new content like flies to a fresh turd, and then they hollow it out for all that it's worth because they're starved of actually fulfilling content. The raiders have been eating good this expansion, but the other 90% of the playerbase is scratching at the walls, chewing through their bindings and escaping the game in droves. Then what they actually release for the casuals is shallow reskins of Eurkea/Bozja and Firmament 2.0: Lunar Boogaloo with rewards that more or less invalidate the need to go back to any of these places for their rare loot and mounts.
If there was more long-form open world content that didn't incentivise grinding the hell out of it in a week and a much more frequent release cycle, I think that ravenous behaviour that FFXIV players have for new content would subside a little bit... But instead it's still gonna be 4 normal raids every 2nd patch, maybe a trial and an alliance raid between those patches, and if you're lucky you get some fun way to grind your relics - if you're not lucky you get EW's relics and tomestone spending. We all know the formula by now and it's the formula that's most responsible for the "gut everything and wait for the next thing" attitude that most active players have.

I like that they finally introduced the ability to get on your mount while moving. It only took them about a decade, and yet other MMOs have had it as a QoL feature as standard for years. I wonder when they'll implement an in-game calender and take a leaf out of Blizzard's 2004 book.

Already said my goodbyes. Came back because 1 friend returned for OC.
I already have a plan to leave again once I'm happy I've done ok in CE. I'm not aiming for my relic. I don't see myself enjoying Forked, I'm certainly not looking forward to it. I'm going to skip the upcoming deep dungeons , like I've skipped HoH and Eurekas. I'm not interested if i can never finish it. The last HoH fixed party said we needed to finish before AAC 5-8 savage because then we'd disband. So didn't bother. At least they were upfront about that.
My sub renewal turned off a couple of days ago, but that was always my plan.
OC is on average what I was expecting. Good enough. Disappointed by no set piece that I can play, even though Bozja had one for me, I was expecting to get screwed on that this time, but the CEs are nice and challenging.

It's a great game, it's fun and has lots of content. My only complaint is hrothgar being the last playable race, knowing that is truly dissapointing and hope they decide to make more other then that I am gonna keep my sub and continue playing it bc it's what I wanna do.

Me! This is my last month playing for a while, just because some life-stuff and general burnout. I'll probably come back around October (maybe).

    I canceled my sub.

I came as a WoW refugee with the Asmon's wave 4 years ago. Fell in love with the game, the story, the world, the game systems... Got used to the scuffed part and hoped those would be fixed with time.

I did everything, from housing, ERP, crafting, gil making, did every Ultimate fights but TEA, new and old Savage...

Apart from visual improvements nothing got fixed. MSQ quality even took a steep dive, the one aspect where this MMO was a cut above every other game in that genre.

I don't like where this game is going so I'm finally "going back to WoW" as so many people asked me to during roulettes. (Jokes aside; I'm done with MMOs)

Thank you for the journey XIV community, it was mostly awesome. Nothing last forever I guess.

Again, the gearing for entry to high end is totally broken.
I want to play my rouls and casual, and i want to be ready for Extremes day 1, as many jobs as I like.
I want 2 weeks to clear Ex.
Then I want to be geared for savage in as many jobs as I want and start progging that in time for it to be start of day 15,as many jobs as I like.
Once I start hitting DPS checks then I can start thinking about restricted myself to a single job.
    I'm not gathering for it.
    I'm not crafting for it.
I'm not doing repetitive boring gil farming methods for it.
If you want me to buy crafted gear you are going to have to 'way' increase the gil rewards for running casual rouls.
Or add more Ex challenge, casual progable, content, 'provided' I can gear as many jobs as like ready for day 1. 12 Ex's per expansion barest 'minimum'.

Actually, I might craft and gather for it, but I want every and I mean 'every' QoL improvement that add-on cheats use.
I want mid craft job switching, window persistence, gathering auto destination teleports, dynamic macro automation that readjusts for procs, multi craft item gathering trackers in-game so I can gather everything I need for 10 items in one visit to a zone. Teamcraft is apparently too much effort for some and its too much effort for me too.

I don't understand how increasing gil rewards will do anything but increase the amount people can pay for crafted gear and therefore how much people will charge for it.

Barely playing. Was excited for OC and the raid but SE somehow makes content inaccessible even for those who WANTED the savage raid. It is incomprehensible, absurd, insane. Just no words for their evil incompetence. I hope they lose a lot of fucking subs from this mess.
