You're right. It's NOT a grind, and that's the problem. It's just RNG luck. The problem is that there will always be players like me who want to do things as quickly and efficiently as possible. Yeah, I could spend two months getting my atmas... If I didn't care about being inefficient with my heliometry and overcapping like crazy. I'm going to keep doing other content. Hunt trains especially, which give a lot of tomes. The fact that I can't buy my 3 arcanite without first doing the atma step means I'm just wasting time. I want every relic. That's 31,500 tomes. That's a lot. I'm not going to want to waste a single tome if I want to be finished with THAT step anytime soon. Which, btw, I don't MIND the tome grind, since it's clear they're not JUST doing the "buy weapons with tomes" step.

But do you see what I'm getting at? It's not about how long the devs intend something to take, it's about how efficiently it can be done if you DO want to "no-life" it. Which the atma steps are not efficient. Even slightly. As I said in my initial post, it encourages you to NOT do the new content, which again, hits at the point of it being inefficient. I can't grind phantom jobs, achievements, or silver/gold with peace of mind, just knowing that the rare case of luck I get with an atma will just be wasted by getting one I already have.

Again, I totally agree with you. Grinding has to be productive & efficient. I was in one of the zones today, and several players in the party that I was in gave up because they were in the same zone for 4-6 hrs, grinding fates without getting any atmas. To me, that's just stupid & horrendous. I don't blame them. It will be sad that in 2 months when the new patch comes out, a few players will still be trying to get an atma in the same zone since the OC content came out.

It's odd I never thought of grinding as productive unless it's like for achievement, where you need to do 1k Fates. I mean efficient would going into OC and staying there the entire time since the drop rate is higher.

I do agree it's too much on RNG tho since I'm tired of farming OC, and I'm still missing any Yellow atmas despite doing CE all over.
