DDoS two hours after the patch goes live is ridiculous

Patch is barely released and it's already ddos o clock. And of course we'll get nothing but silence and a lodestone nothingburger as a response. I'm at the point where I'm genuinely wishing for ddos to occur during the upcoming WF race because maybe then something will be done about it.

Can we get the cloud servers back up for regular players and open up cross-region travel already.

Back in October we had DCs every 30 minutes for weeks, SE really need to do something to mitigate this, instead of one Lodestone post they never followed up on.

I have some good news and bad that SE won't care at all either even if it happens during the WR due to how controversial the last few have been in ffxiv and I don't blame them at all.

Man I didn't even get to m12. I got stuck at M11 with the same crap. And let me tell you. When you're redoing m11 for the 4th time because of disconnects, LOOOOOOONG LIIIIIIIVE THE KIIIIIING get old so god damned fast.
Can't even do anything now. We vote disbanded and now I can't craft, can't do raid stuff, can't do OC because they closed it, can't even do msq because I'll just get 90002'd in the middle of a cutscene. Now bracing for them to just shut it all down to fix OC, so that's more downtime in the future. Jesus dude. I'm glad I just happened to have today off and am third shift so this is my normal waking time. Imagine people taking time off and screwing up their sleep to enjoy this, LOL. Couldn't be me. Never ever again dude.

Honestly, this isnt Square Enix's fault. It's the fault of whatever person refuses to let others enjoy the things they pay for. They aren't hurting Square Enix (if that was their intent), they are hurting the players. But I digress, while Square Enix can mitigate it to some degree they can only do so much.

It's not their fault if they get attacked, but it is their fault if they don't do anything about said attacks after years of them happening and causing significant disruption.

It's a bit like saying it's not the police's fault if criminals commit a crime. Of course it's not their fault, but if they do nothing about the criminals, then over time, it becomes their fault.

It does when people say they are quitting the game over it, which recently, I have begun to see.

The deep dungeon change was a start but it's not enough even for deep dungeons, because if you disconnect while near an enemy or a patrol goes by, it'll still kill you before the character disappears. Also, if you briefly get a disconnect icon while moving out of a conal AoE, it doesn't prevent that from ruining a solo run either (this destroyed my HoH solo run near the end).

At best it will prevent DDoS from ending most full-party runs.

Given how long it has been going on, measures such as moving data center could be considered. Especially considering nobody was happy with the move because the ideal location is in the middle of the US not on the edge that gives some players unnecessarily high ping. From a player perspective, we're hard-pressed to find a benefit to having moved the NA data center to its current location.

It sort of is, frankly. They just don't want to incur cost to mitigate this fiasco. They really need to get a 21st Century ISP and NOC that cares enough to be mitigating this 24/7, and that can happen. But it will cost them, and that's probably not on their care-o-meter.
