I’m replaying msq from beginning and skipping the last expansion.
I’m replaying msq from beginning and skipping the last expansion.
I just came back from a break. Take some time off if the game's gotten stale for you.
Wow, this thread gained more traction than I imagined it would.
I find it funny how people come here to white knight for SE by saying "just leave, no one cares" when I mentioned that I had cancelled my sub a few hours ago before starting this thread.
In other words, I started this thread to hear from like minded people, as I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way. I am of the opinion that with these games one has to speak with their wallet and cancel if the feedback loop that keeps the game running isn't satisfying anymore.
In my case, it is not.
But I also understand that, to some people, the game feels and will continue feeling as good as ever, and that's okay. Outcomes will certainly vary. However, I'm certainly glad to see more people sharing my disdain for the shoddy writing that characterized this expansion.
Someone even said they are just replaying the old MSQs right now. I think that is pretty cool! Maybe I could do that, but I find it hard to justify a monthly sub just to replay old patches. Maybe in a few months if nostalgia kicks in, I will. But then if I were to, another aspect of the game that I don't like would show its ugly face: jobs are stale in my opinion. The last time that jobs felt exciting to me was Stormblood. From there on excessive simplification and homogeneity have been kings and queens of the game, and I'm also tired of it.
I would encourage fellow posters to continue sharing their thoughts if they'd like, I am enjoying reading you all.
Cheers

I suppose the only thing I have to say to folk who think they have a say over how, what other people should care about, or how they should express their unhappiness or discontentment over a product is..
Get over it.
Spot on!
Imagine being that guy and thinking people don't have a right to express their dislike of a product they have paid thousands of dollars over time to play.
That's any corporation's ideal customer right there lmao
It's been a serious consideration for a good while now. Part of it is getting a little tired of static drama and the like, I'll admit. On the whole though, I just haven't liked the direction XIV has taken since Endwalker, especially the post expansion patches. The constant dumbing down of everything and a complete lack of innovation makes for a stale experience. Some of that can certainly be attributed to playing for just shy of a decade now, but even then there's a fair number of decisions I simply don't like. Not to mention, the increased delay between patches really has stretched their already thin content cadence to its breaking point. Take Occult Crescent, for example. We're nearly a year into Dawntrail's lifestyle and only now are we finally getting a "grindy" piece of content that isn't a high end raid. Prior to that if you didn't raid, there was just... nothing to really do.
Will I unsub? Not yet. I still enjoy the game enough that I'm playing. It just isn't anywhere near as engaging. I've said this elsewhere as this thread comes up a lot, but I can replay BG3 for the 5-6th time and still be enthused by the exact same story and cut scenes whereas I just... couldn't care less about Dawntrail whatsoever. The MSQ really put a damper on this expansion for me--more than I initially expected if I'm being honest.

whats the point though? the game wont change because of that. your post isnt good critic either.
if the game is worthy enough for you to pay the sub then you pay and play, if not then you stop paying. its as simple as that.
what does other peoples opinion have to do with you canceling or not canceling your sub? since you already know the product you can judge that for yourself, or not? it sounds a bit like you want to cancel but you need likeminded people to judtify it? which is kinda weird.
dont misunderstand im not here to troll or to hate, i just dont get the point of this topic.
without fun jobs none of the content is fun
If the history of this games forum has imparted any form of knowledge it is that your post could be the most critical post in existence, it is not going to matter in any capacity whatsoever, because with SE, their feedback loop always revolves around 2 completely opposite edge ends of the spectrum, repeating this same nonsense charade expansion-by-expansion.whats the point though? the game wont change because of that. your post isnt good critic either.

Playing the 'good critic' card is literally more pointless than doing this thread.
Some of y'all try and read way too much, or try to get way too much out of a meager post. They've simply stated what they've done, that they are thinking about leaving, and simply asking whether it is a commonality with other users or not. I highly doubt them staying or leaving hinges on other peoples' opinion.
It's just simply trying to create discussion with other potential likeminded players, e.g., why do you also feel like leaving.
I think the game itself is providing a suitable enough rationale for them wanting to leave and/or following through with it.
