It is obvious that they want you to keep paying the monthly fee, that's why the drop rate is grossly low, as the expansion progresses they will increase the drop rate, soo yea

The drop rate is low because people wanted a grind. Not a tomestone relic.
If your life’s ambition is to grind tomestones there is literally nothing stopping you from doing that. That is just not what relics are
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
yep, basically the same stuff in a different layout, this content won't last long at all
Reading people's posts here make me realize how lucky I am. I get 2 atmas in 2 hours lol
That said, it might be hours before I get the third one haha
I do like how getting to the various CE and FATEs is easy once you have all the teleport nodes. I did that at level 4 because not getting a res was no big deal. I liked Eureka and Resistance tool grind with chasing FATES and CEs. For OC I'm finding CEs are popping too quickly and not giving enough time for FATEs. CEs don't feel special; they just feel like a bit harder FATE since they pop so often.
I did find Manderville weapons too easy to get, so I do like a bit of grind, however, I'm about to give up for a while on Occult Crescent. I'm just too frustrated with not being able to get to the next quest and the horrible drop rate to work on the weapons. I have spent several hours with just 3 of the 18 drops needed. I don't have this kind of time to spend on no progress. I did 10 open world FATES and got one drop. When I first went into OC, I got 2 drops fairly quick. Then several hours later, nothing.
I'm seeing progress in OC for the knowledge and phantom but honestly, that's the side fun stuff not the primary reason I'm there.

XVI had most of the same design pitfalls that XIV does. XIV's code and infrastructure are both absolutely horrible, but it's clear that it isn't holding back amazing concepts.
Agreed. There should be at least one BA/DRS type of large scale raid and one CLL/Dalriada type of CE/raid. I hope they give us this in the future updates.- Forked tower seems to be designed around Baldesion Arsenal, which in itself is probably ok for players that like this, but this also means unfortunately that we'll not get any CLL/Dalriada, which were some of the best raids we've had in the modern version of the game, and feel like actual raids or dungeons with actual objectives.
A CLL/Dalriada type of CE is required because it doesn't require the level of coordination that BA/DRS would while being doable and not too easy at the same time, a perfect middle ground.
Square Enix Co., Ltd. has obviously been struggling to make video games in recent years. While OC is a step in the right direction, they still haven't done enough to fix the terrible netcode problem, which is likely why so many people die despite dodging mechanics. Some say the entire country of Japan has a problem, and while they might be making themselves extinct and irrelevant, Square Enix Co., Ltd. is far worse than most Japanese companies in incompetence. Hopefully they can discover the Internet and make netcode that's actually usable.
By the way, simply staying the course at this point isn't an answer for FFXIV. World of Warcraft is not only getting a better housing system but better story and battle content, and has been for a while. While obviously Square Enix Co., Ltd. (and the nation of Japan) is hyper-traditional, perhaps they should reach back further into better traditions like mahjong (which they do well) than making kusoge like this.
I quite enjoyed the boat trip out there. And there's a bit of intrigue in the story.
But the gameplay... I've done this before. I can see it might be engaging for anyone who skipped Eureka/Bozja, but if all SE wants to do is to present the same idea over different wallpaper. Nah. Time for a different game.

It's about what I expected it would be.
I do find the CEs fun. The Phantom Jobs aren't the most exciting addition, but this is probably because the devs got tired of adding a bunch of abilities (with Logograms and Lost Actions) that ultimately never got used due to the meta, so they figured "We'll make a fun FFV reference with a button you can press every so often and call it a day."
