    For the normal game? If you know where to look, it’s already in the game files. For the mobile version, there was a preview video that showed them all.

    It would be nice to get these kinds of improvements in the main game, but I assume they’d have to start over from scratch. You’d almost think at this point it would be easier and/or less frustrating to work on making a new game engine (or code or whatever, I’m not tech savvy) in the background, then add all our character data and switch us over when it’s ready, than it would to be just trying to update and add new systems/features over top of the notorious spaghetti code like they do now. I don’t pretend to know what kind of manpower or investment that would take, but at some point, it’s something they should consider if they plan on keeping this going for another decade.

    It’s just kinda insane to me how many features and such the mobile game will have that can run on my phone, while the main game goes without them on my much more powerful PC.

    If you do have said proof, then by all means, please provide it.
    My aim here is not to be combatitive or argumentative. I just want to see where these claims come from, as they seem to be a lot of the "he said she said" variety.

    Its not 16 dye channels on vanilla gear, its 16 individual materials per piece of gear and each has the ability to be dye enabled.

    Even then, the work to do so would not be as simple as SE simply adding dyability to those individual materials, unlike what people keep claiming. As they would need to adjust the UI for it, set the individual dye values per material, etc. and considering how lackluster they second dye slot has been handled so far... I don't think anyone would be happy with their choices in that regard. Furthermore, no one can show you proof of this. If you aren't willing to do research for yourself then you simply have to accept that this is a very old game and many players know the ins and outs of how it works, about as well as the dev team at times. It is genuinely a case of iykyk.

    As for the mobile game, it was demonstrated on a Chinese stream a couple days ago. The mobile game has 16 dye channels, which is technically possible in the main game; with a whole heck of a lot of work, due to how we know materials work. Which even setting aside the obvious beating around the bush people are doing to avoid ToS topics, we were shown how materials work and how dye functions in the fanfest dev panels leading up to 7.0's release.

    Its not a "he said she said" situation, its a case of you being dismissive. Which is by nature argumentative and combative. Regardless of your declared intent.

    Either way, since you asked for proof, here is the screenshots for mobile demonstrating the 16 dye slots:

    It seems that people have confused the mobile game features with the normal game features and made some very wild claims.

    They have not confused anything. The game supports the capability for them to implement 16 dye channels as dyes are associated to the 16 materials that can make up an individual piece of gear.

    Generally you need an ID texture map to translate material IDs (which are mesh related) into UV texturing (which is texture related). You're colouring a texture, not a mesh material.
    You can ofc automate and bake out ID maps for each 3D item but you'd still need to:

    1) check them manually and see if every channel works because no, colour theory is more complicated than snapping your fingers and the colour suddenly turns from red to green (especially in relation to dark and light, a lot of parts of gear probably wouldn't work well with colour transition so you'd need to exclude them out).
    2) have your 3D items actually make use of those ID materials, some may not have a lot of IDs set, and in order to fix this you'd need to manually go over every piece of gear one by one, which I suspect is the reason for the slow transition to the 2 dyes channel system (but I could be wrong).

    If mobile ARR is doing this then this raises questions to where they actually dedicate their graphic pipeline resources.

    It's never wise to put all your eggs in one basket. Having multiple projects and sources of income is okay. I would say they made many poor choices with their investments, which reflected all across the board. From what I am seeing, they have a poor understanding of the gaming market trends, and they choose to chase the wrong FOMO.

    Also, they seem to suffer from the same problem as AAA Studios: chasing after the money and listening to a very loud and small minority instead of creating and exploring fun ideas.
