Why its so easy to by pass even on just keyboard by setting up a macro, or just find a corner some where and autorun into it lolThey really need to bring it back. There are plenty of times I can't get onto some servers due to congestion, even at "off" times. Plenty of people just AFK in Limsa or wherever and hog server space. It would be a good idea to bring it back, but maybe longer than 30 mins. It was pretty bad when Endwalker came out, largely due to the queue times. Dawntrail on the other hand, on my server at the time of release I didn't spend more than 5-10 minutes in queue. 30 minutes makes sense in that situation, but in general it should be a 1-2 hour logout.
inb4 controller players rubber band their sticks together
Exactly this. They even posted with 7.1 how Standard and Congested worlds have greatly reduced slots for world visits.
This is by design. Its not congestion, its artificial population control done for little to no reason that only serves to frustrate players with literally no benefits.

this is an ongoing battle with bots and RMT since 2000 FFXI online days.

Do you want more bards playing random midi tracks in Limsa for 10+ hours? Cause that's how you get more of those.
It is awfully weird seeing people afk in one spot for multiple days.
They need to have more GM's in the cities waiting for the bots to appear to ban them on the spot, it's easy to spot the bots and the GM's have access to the tools that let them see the bot's activity history to differentiate from legit players. Then have more GM's go to all other places like MSQ quest locations and ban more bots too.

A better solution would be make the game fun, so less people log in to afk.

This. The login server waits until 100 spots are open on the world server, then pops a batch of 100 people from the login queue, and it takes about 1 minute and 20 seconds to log these 100 people in because the login server only handles 75 people per minute.

Error 3102 Club, Order of the 52nd Hour
I agree that it's log in server related, not number of on-line players.
Which actually leads to a different conclusion imo - the log-in server is likely under constant DDoS, with more popular data centers / worlds being the higher priority targets as they will cheese off more players.
Personally I think that between the Free to Play & the lack of enforcement on use of mods or "plug-ins" there are multiple vectors open for DDoS attacks. It's a given that mods can create a security hole, anyone logging in through a 3rd party program - risks exposing their account information (and more) is not secure, period.
FF XIV has the worst enforcement of their own EULA of any MMO I've personally played.
