As someone that just won star contributor this morning on Alpha, I can tell you that beating "those" people is very easy if you're willing to invest the time. Just pilot mechs(not ground ops), do red alerts, and earning gold rating on weather a-3's are very effective at earning contribution points. All the bots/plugins can do currently to my knowledge is craft so regular players still have a solid chance. As for winning so many mounts, I throw them away. That's how many items I've won from gambling/piloting. The game throws them at you if you play a lot.

Adding: OP mentioned earning the 500k points. That literally takes less than 30hrs. Anyone can finish those if they really wanted to pretty fast so go get one. I have CRP/ARM finished already. Weather crafting awards like 30k+ points per hour btw. Very very speedy route to 500k.
