SE: How do I know if I am doing enough damage in Savage?

Disagree with this bit. Just literally do all the basic things like mechanics, ABC, buff window alignment, follow advice from The Balance, use food, materia and pots and then you know it's not you. It's not rocket science.

Me thinks that there are people who might not understand the variability of humans and their inability to recognize "small" failings.

I've done everything suggested here. Or at least I thought I was. I mean, I damn well tried. Then I plugged a log into xivanalysis.

My uptime was well under 90%. On DNC, of all jobs.

The advice for how to do good damage is easy to type out. The game proper makes it all but impossible to determine how well you're actually following that advice.

Factors like ping can affect it and also sometimes it's wrong and not considering phase changes and things like that. I remember that site itself saying how it was out of date for certain jobs or content etc.
