



I hate the changes to BLM’s casts but it’s also stupid to pretend like casting uptime isn’t still a concern for BLM compared to SMN who is playing a physical ranged
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
I just struggle to consider it a limitation when the cast times are shorter than the GCD and the failure to maintain uptime comes with no consequence.

It wasn’t long ago I had people telling me “SMN had the most parses therefore the rework was a total success!” Wonder where those folks are at now. Probably saying the same thing about BLM I wager
Just imagine your pet dying to a random aoe, in the current fight's design. Always having to re-summon your pet in between your attacks.I never quite found enjoyment in SMN game play. Micromanaging pet were two extreme, they entire face tank AOE without issue even in trial hard mode or dying like they made of paper in Coil back in ARR. Micromanaging the pet was also tedious and cumbersome.
I certainly prefer the “current type of summons” where each summon change your attack but the issue with the current lots not only we have the same summons over many expansions but also they don’t feel different enough. I just cycle through.
I would certainly want to see more summons but each summons have more uniqueness
I mean, sure, make SMN like that and watch it die out.

Why bother when RDM does everything SMN does but better? And way more damage.
SMN needs to be gutted and reworked from the ground up, Everything SMN does is done better by the others with less effort.



I mean I am no fan of the old pet system and perfect the current SMN summons spell, but rather than cycling through the three “not so different egi”. We have more unique summons and we choose when to use which

Is this a sign that the rework was a failure? Or that reworks based on popularity aren’t always the most important thing?
How do they justify SMN’s changes as good in the longer term if all it took was one new caster and a few balance changes to send it to the bottom again
They have altered the Job, pray they do not alter the job any further.
In all seriousness the lobotomization of Summoner I find to be truly the most despicable thing Squares done in terms of Job design.
And this is coming from the guy who regularly defends a lot of the things that go on in the game.
I look at Summoner and I just feel sad for them.


Honestly I miss old summoner gameplay. It was my favorite job between 2.0 - 5.0. I don't know why they reworked that job, once they could make completely new job.

And they could have added the visuals we have now to old summoner as well without turning it into a braindead mage.
It's all just Ruin.
