That was kinda my point
If RDM is the current most popular caster because it was the only one that didn’t proverbially shoot itself in the foot are these constant remakes of jobs for a combination of popularity and fail state removal achieving anything
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
I still don't understand why they took away the pet attacking by default.
I have literally never seen any other summon in this setting that manifests on field, and then stands there while awaiting a command/while it's summoner is attacked.
Every primal that ever gets summoned commences battle almost immediately with no further requirement.
Why not Carbuncle?
It's a shame too, the idea of different rotation phases sounded cool and had potential but they just never did anything with it. Job was literally thrown in the trash because the devs are afraid to make anything interesting for balance reasons

Probably partly the complexity. Your stats affect its stats and they often had to fix odd issues with that. And the fact, as mentioned in other posts, they want jobs to be simple to understand and there are players that don't understand pet hotbars - the same reason they probably moved scholar's pet control to normal hotbar actions. Their pet doesn't attack either and is virtually doing the same thing that Sage does where its attacks do an auto heal on the Kardia partner.
I believe they are replicating the idea from old FF games where the summons were only temporary. They did their attack, then left. However, they've also made this imbue you with their element aether.Every primal that ever gets summoned commences battle almost immediately with no further requirement.
What we need is a Proto-Carbuncle summon. Why not Carbuncle?

I still like Summoner, but PCT was just so high performing, also brings utility outside rez, is just as simple to play if not more simple, and is brand new so I’m not surprised as to the shift. We will see now that it’s nerfed how long that lasts. I already see more summoners since 7.2 than PCT in the casual content I do.
I want Proto Carbuncle instead of Carbuncle, I want Rubicante instead of shitty Ifrit, I want Barbie instead of cringe Garuda, I want Golbez instead of Titan and I want Zeromus instead of Bahamut.Probably partly the complexity. Also, include Meteoin instead of Phoenix and Hydaelyn instead of Solar Bahamut.
All of those with their respective signature attacks.
Yes? Please?

Them being scared of spoiling the 89 trial with a 100 ability still seems so silly to me.Petition to change SMN name to just "Bahamut" XD
Jokes aside though, it's a no brainer to give us ramuh, shiva, leviathan in DT. Yet the didn't. Honestly idk what they were thinking. Why do they simp for hydaelyn so much that they give us not!hydaelyn summon which ends up as another bahamut because they want to avoid spoiler.

You’re playing a game where a bathtub or a garden chair sells for 10 times+ more than a piece of max level gear. Please. The gameplay doesn’t even matter at this point because they know that it’s irredeemably bad and as long as they can sell gametime & virtual gimmicks to the house party subscribers they’re happy.
