    It's hard to fathom how this saga continues by now. So many jobs get some sort of QoL over time and yet... MCH is left to rot (as are other jobs such as DNC's Tilana. I guess ranged really is the neglected child role). The last thing it was given to improve general gameplay or synergy was to adjust Queen AI a bit. Was a good change! Yet... the only one!?

    I see no other real course of action except to simply not play the job. This goes against my principles and as the healer strike has shown, tends to be more performative than having any tangible impact, but what else to do but show CS3 that people statistically see no use for MCH anymore outside of "because you can"?

    I'm open to ideas, but clearly no method of attempting communication with the devs will work. I even had this thread sent through a connection of mine (a guy who knows a guy, you know how it is) and still nothing.

    I still don't understand, why SE is so afraid to make MCH an actual selfish DPS. We are the selfish DPS without the DPS to back it up. It just doesn't make sense!

    I don't understand how MCH's AoE dissonance remains as it is given how often players do dungeons and with the upcoming Occult Crescent that's likely to give more AoE situations. You'd think it would be a priority to make AoE rotations satisfying in the content players often do. Instead they were too focused on adjusting AoE fall-off on every job specifically for the sake of 2-target balance. The AoE fall-off seems like a lower priority compared to giving QoL to MCH or any other job that also didn't get them.

    Making AoE satisfying is easy:

    * Remove ~all AoEs
    * Make Flamethrower something I can freely start/stop.
    * Make it far more powerful.
    * Make it scorch the ground which adds as a tick/second DoT to anything inside.
    * Make me able to walk-move while channeling it (have to press the button again to stop).

    I only need Flamethrower. Flamethrower is love. Flamethrower is life. It provides fire, warmth and cleansing.

    Pretty confident someone in the management has that hate-boner towards MCH and keeps ignoring it til last tier of savage.

    It feels like they keep MCH intentionally bad, and phys ranged as a whole because it is the 'role for those who are bad at the game.' 'Bad players don't like cast times so phys ranged have no cast times.' 'Bad players don't like thinking about their positioning so phys ranged have no range requirements.' 'Bad players don't like thinking about their own rotations so phys ranged are given strong raid buffs to offload responsibility onto their party.' So until they stop treating it like the 'bad at the game role,' it won't change.

    Feels like I have more to keep track of than "press the shiny button to combo" with melees.
    Tad snark aside, I agree with this statement. Phys Ranged is too often seen as the "easy" role by not only the dev team but the community at large however unwarranted it is.

    Nah, everything about ff14 can be explained by two points 1) Designers don't playtest their ideas 2) There is no QA team to playtest both classes and raid content to tell thing "nah this should be tweaked or don't bother push it to production".

    Even right now my jaw is dropped by reading that i should NOT use odd minute hammer because it's potency loss (you get it, 2 charge ability you skip one charge always, and this was get into production (live) version of the game).

    I don't really want to type anything about lazy devs yadayada but every problem in game leads to them. Mch will get what it deserves only with new phys range Game Designer, which won't happen since Yoshi will be stubborn to change anyone who is still in team since 2.0.

    To add i am not just salty needy player angry at devs. I think everyone said before many times that mch should be ping friendly (wildfire charge based), wildfire should be able to crit/dh (with aoe drop off because thematically you put BOMB on target and it does nothing in terms of aoe), there should be aoe robot version, crossbow resetting ogcds should not be TEN POINT ZERO expansion trait etc.

    The easiest fix they could do is slap a 5% raidbuff on barrel stabilizer, the other pranged give 20%. This would give mch that "atleast 5%" they need selfishly as well as give a little to the rest of the party, thus being accepted by the community. It would also fix the comical text on the job guide page lmao.

    Physical ranged DPS attack foes from a distance. They excel at inflicting sustained damage, and also provide support for companions."

    You could argue that dismantle is that support now but... when everyone has insane mit and healing tools it feels a little overshadowed right now to me personally, glad to have it but it's not enough to warrant it's damage placement.
