Initially there's no reason to, but once Calyx and Simulant start attacking Solution Nine. It's the easiest surefire way to keep it out of their hands, since their lack of intedimensional travel is exactly why they're pursuing the cup.

While Y'shtola would definitely want to study it, I don't think she'd see the problem with storing it away temporarily for the greater good, especially when the aether of all the reflections are on the line.

It's not like it's difficult for us to go to the first either and besides maybe Beq Lugg would have a/come up with a unique perspective on it that could help Y'shtola also, making the trip to the First more valuable than we might think.
