Back in Stormblood they actually did announce job changes in the prelim patch. But then players said the WHM Lily system sucked, devs said players should try it before saying anything, it released and it sucked. Since then the devs have felt insulted that players dared call them out, and were correct, and we haven't had job changes in patch note.Is there any special reasons why they do not show any of the Job Changes in the preliminary patches? As I seriously doubt they will make any big changes to Jobs in 2-3 days
This week will be a horrible start to a new work week and a new patch thanks to the stupid midexpansion BLM rework. I do NOT want another Job to become braindead dumbed down
They have gone over some job changes in LL such as when Ninjutsu was changed to GCDs, and I recall when they showed the Trick Attack change to Mug, they were hammered by JP comments in the chat. And I assume this is the reason they didn't "announce" the BLM change in this LL, only let people notice it.
It has occurred to me that there's no mention of new "outfits" for storing in the glamour dresser. I hope that's just because they don't generally tend to list added items in the patch notes – I've been deliberately keeping more gear pieces than I normally would (particularly jewellery from the ex-endgame dungeons) waiting to see what they would say about which pieces we'll need to insert to store battle sets.
I believe it was either 5.1 or 5.2 when they stopped includong the job changes in the preliminary notes cause of all the aforementioned reasons.Back in Stormblood they actually did announce job changes in the prelim patch. I do find it funny that they said they would stop with mid expansion job changes with the reception to sam rework in 6.1 but the. We have this here.
Yeah I hope that's just an omission and they're adding more outfits. I really want them to make the alliance raid sets into outfits, I have a lot of them stored in the dresser and don't want to throw them out since they're a pain to get again. It has occurred to me that there's no mention of new "outfits" for storing in the glamour dresser. Yeah, I remember the Stormblood job change announcements. It was like the devs didn't actually play the jobs when they thought, "Everything needs gauge!"Back in Stormblood they actually did announce job changes in the prelim patch. And then the complaints that came when the actual changes did land, too. Like WAR's gauge at first cutting the gauge in half when you stance swap. Intended to be a balancing to WAR but was like a gigantic slap in the face nerf, because it meant at best you would lose 0 GCDs(if gauge empty) worth of gauge building and at worst, 6. The fights would dictate when you swap, and the player conclusion was just make WAR not use tank stance at all. Which was a time when Inner Beast still had mitigation. Intended as a balance because WAR's tank stance swap didn't eat 1 GCD like PLD and DRK's did(and for PLD and DRK it only ate the GCD on activation.) Player unrest around that got them to fix it by 4.1.
Seems like after Stormblood, Devs have mostly taken to doing complete reworks. Dumping entire combos. Eliminating DOTs. Eliminating upkeep rotations. It's all baby town frolics.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
People have spent the last week malding about changes to one job so I don't blame them for not announcing the changes to all of them in advance
“Why are people so unhappy that an unpopular change is being put through. This is definitely justification for us to hide other unpopular changes till the game goes down”
God we’d still have toilet paper lilys if this mindset was around in SB
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
I was under the impression that we shouldnt expect big job changes before 8.0![]()
