No, we do have enough content

You know, I had this thought that we’re not getting enough content for the money we pay, even before that PC Gamer article. I used to think that devs should make more content instead of telling us to play other games. But over the past few months, I’ve been playing other games and… I realized I’d been addicted to FFXIV. I now think we have more than enough content.

    BUT WAIT!!!

What about the sub price? Why do we have to pay $13 each month for just 4 hours of MSQ every 4 months? Well, let’s break down Patch 7.1
    What did we get?
    3 hours of the MSQ
2 hours of the Alliance Raid (excluding reclears)
    1 hour of Role Quests
    30 minutes of Hildibrand Adventures
    30 minutes of Custom Deliveries
Allied Society Quests: 10 minutes per day*30=5 hours+1.5 hours of cutscenes
The Extreme Trial: 2 hour lockout (excluding reclears)
The Chaotic Alliance Raid: 2 hour lockout (excluding reclears)
I didn’t include the Ultimate because, according to the forums, only 1% of the playerbase does it, or Unreal because it’s old, reused content

That’s 17.5 hours of content. Add 10 hours of dailies (leveling/Frontlines) since most players do these, and we get 27.5 hours of content for a month.

We’re getting 27.5 hours of content for just $13. According to howlongtobeat.com, it takes 60 hours to complete Elden Ring. That game costs $60, so that’s $1 per hour. FFXIV gives you ~2 hours of content per $1. And that’s just the bare minimum! You can do so much more—reclears, hunts, crafting, gathering, RP, old content if you haven’t done it. You can get sooo much more out of those $13. And if you’re one of those so-called housing hostages, go touch some grass and stop acting like it’s your real house. And even if you stay subbed for 4 months, that’s still 30 minutes of content per $1 at the bare minimum, which isn’t that bad.

Just how much content do you want? 27.5/30=almost 1 hour of playtime every day. That’s a normal playtime for most people who go at work/school, have family, friends, hobbies, take shower and clean their room. And again… that’s just the bare minimum. Oh, what? Not enough? You say you play 18 hours every day? Sorry, but the devs aren’t going to design the game around 1% of terminally online players. If you want a mount from the Chaotic raid, you’ll need to clear the fight 50 times at worst—that’s 10 hours at best, plus another 10 if you want the Extreme mount, another 10-20 for the gathering mounts and thousands of fates for the gemstone mount. You can also do the Ultimate, it’ll take you at least 100 hours to clear that fight, and you can do it it's not that hard.

It's really not about the amount of content, but how engaging some of it is. And it's funny how the entire expansion was delayed because of the Elden Ring DLC, while the devs make the game easier and easier.

Look, I’m not trying to defend the game. I’m not happy with the direction it’s taking and I've made other threads about it before. The thing is I’m so tired of the constant, non-constructive yapping. Have you ever thought maybe that’s why the devs stopped listening to us? You probably didn't. But you've made multiple posts about the game dying because of blm changes, without even playing it first. Please tell me, how is it possible for the timer to run out if you know exactly how many gcds you can put in that window? Have you thought, maybe it will be more fun to play if you don't need to stress out about something that will probably never happen? Or maybe it will create some new non-standard rotations? No, you didn't think about it, you're too scared of any changes even though you ask for them. The bots are ruining the market... not just the undercutting bots, but the crafting and gathering bots... but yeah let's continue pretending that it's not happening and create another 10 threads and 100 yt videos about non-existent problems.

Then don't look at the complaint threads...? Is complaining about other people complaining the main content now? Guess that's just show how dry the content in-game right now lol.

Jokes aside, good amount of veterans have already had their trust running dangerously low at this point. For example: remember StB Lilies? How community reacts and what was SE's responses? And ho boi how they turned out---why are we even surprised---quite possibly one of the worst job gauges they could've come up with? Adding insult to the injury, they basically also spent the entire worth of expansion trying to salvage the system before finally indirectly admitting how the gauge was a failure by ShB (a.k.a. oh my gosh the community is actually correct!) and rehaul'd them while also starting to adopt the "Yeah we're not going to speak much about job adjustments now lol"-stance?

And that, is only one of the example. Going back to tread their track record we'll find more or less the same pattern of occurrence happening several times. No wonder the best treatment for any jobs nowadays is "to get ignored by the devs" unless you're a healer/tank main.

Same. These forums are so boring. Same thing over and over. No idea how people can spend 60 hours a week complaining about the same things. But they should consider all that time spent in what they enjoy - complaining - as part of their sub.

I’ve provided a variety of negative feedback about DT and am presently playing 1 hour a week. I am bored but I know more content is on the way. It’s my own choice to pay the sub or not. But how people want to spend a significant portion of their lives talking about an ancient mmo they seemingly despise is beyond me.

I would posit the return question..

Have you ever thought that the reason why so many comments are non-constructive yapping is because the developers never really actually deigned to listen to much of the feedback in the first place?

It's easy to come here and make the comments on non-constructive yapping, but many people have actually been providing feedback, consistently since as early as Stormblood, and the developers, if they have given recognition have demonstrated little thought to actually action it.. Or have only deigned to present a dismissive response such as "If you want engaging healing experience then go play Ultimates"

If you want more constructive threads then how about arguing about the severe lack of communication from developers?

Also, probably wouldn't go along and comparing playing Elden Ring or games of that nature to doing something like 30 minutes of custom deliveries.

I hope you never, ever have a complaint until you've done those 15,000 levequests.

I disagree that these only count as 2 hours, because they are meant to be done multiple times. In some cases you might actually clear an Extreme trial in just 2 hours, but often it takes more prog than that for people depending on which one. Then they are meant to be farmed for the mount, or at least for a weapon which is nice for alts if you already have a good weapon.

Chaotic you probably wouldn't clear in just 2 hours of prog, and that's also meant to be done multiple times.

That makes High-End content really, really good and lengthy content for most people. The problem is that a lot of people avoid anything that is "High-End", which leaves only the rest of the content you mentioned. And it's that other content that gets too repetitive or simple for many players.

That's a good point. It's easy to attack that things only take 10 minutes, but it helps to understand that a pick-and-mix is SE's design goal to so that people can stop every 10-20 minutes and eat/hydrate:

    "3 hours of the MSQ"

Surely no one will skip dialogue going from Emet-Selch to Wuk Lamat. But yeah if you didn't skip these, most of the content you're getting is a visual novel.

"2 hours of the Alliance Raid"

What kind of parties have you been in?

    "30 minutes of Hildibrand Adventures
    30 minutes of Custom Deliveries
Allied Society Quests: 10 minutes per day*30=5 hours+1.5 hours of cutscenes"

Most of those asking for content want to be actively engaged. Pushing skill buttons. People are not asking for visual novels.

"The Extreme Trial: 2 hour lockout (excluding reclears)
The Chaotic Alliance Raid: 2 hour lockout (excluding reclears)
I didn’t include the Ultimate because, according to the forums, only 1% of the playerbase does it, or Unreal because it’s old, reused content"

Anything considered Savage level should not be included. The engagement is very low, if we pick the entire playerbase. Same goes for Extremes with useless, low ilvl gear.

And that is exactly the issue final has right now, Endgames in MMO should ALWAYS be based on Raids/Grind or anything which involves Challenges in any kind of form, this is how it always was in MMOs but people in final take the game as second life and as social platform and these player are the reason the game cant evolve
