I'm not sure which is most odd.

That people would rant so much but still stay here and forget their own rants a few days later (which means it wasn't that important to begin with).

Or that people make so many silly rants that are completely illogical or unfounded to begin with.

Some days, reading the lodestone makes me sad.
If it makes you sad then why go on the lodestone if you know right after the servers go down everyone is going to be ranting. That's what happens when the servers go down people are pissed off. I am going to be honest the reason In like going on the lodestone after the servers go offline is that I am bored and its something to do. But you are acting like your better than everyone else which is disgusting.

If SE acted as smug as you do this game would simply vanish into thin air. That or get handed over to another game developer like they did with Fantasy Earth Zero. The simple fact of the matter is SE is desperate to have whatever subscribers they have left keep on paying to fuel back development costs before their higher ups go "That's it we've lost enough money, hand it over to another company".

So before you suggest some other non-productive idiotic idea of simply cancelling subscriptions, which believe me nobody here is above doing, think of what consequences this game would suffer if everybody who cared to took your advice and took the very, extremely simple option of not paying.

Sadly I do not, since I selected a payment for severell months. So for those months I'm allready screwed up. But for sure I'l remember that till a few days before the next payment is due.

My point btw to maybe make it more clear:
With such stuff SE damages theyr reputation even more. If you don't care SE loosing even more customers and loosing more possible future customers that's your desicion. I actually care.

    What also worryies me:

I was there in Beta and read the alpha player complaing about what all was wrong in alpha and what of that is still wrong in beta. I was part of those people telling SE that they should fix a lot before release or they will pay for it. I was there like propably a lot of you shortly after releas when a lot of people where hoping for a miracle fix patch.
Now it is the miracle 2.0 release.
You know the story about the boy that alwys lied about the wolf attacking, till the day where te wolf actually attacked and noone beliefed him?
I'm at that point. I don't beliefe it till it happens. And I really hope I'll get a big surprise with 2.0. But after so many dissapointments I try to hold the ball low.
Granted there are big improvments, but there are still basics missing so long after release and patchworking everywhere.

    Well, for 1, I am an Elf, so obviously I am better than everyone else ^.^;

Additionally, I like to come to the lodestone (normally) as there is often good information here and sometimes useful discussions.

But, when we have unconstructive rants that show the less desirable side of people, that makes me sad. But perhaps others enjoy seeing negativity and baseless claims, and they should be allowed to behave in that manner (it is a freeish world).

So how about that.. in this freeish world, I can come here and see things which make me sad, and others can contribute in whatever manner they are most comfortable with. C'est la vie.

It does make me sad that you think I should not come here anymore, but you are entitled to your opinion ^.^

I know from other MMORPGs there is always something wrong with a patch. And that I can understand. Goes back to what you allready explained. But it never seemes to be so bad to varant an emergency patch.

And I also have basic programming skills. So I know how a something little like a wrong space or a missing "!" or what ever can totaly screw you up.

    Telling a customer to

is not the way to have a customer relationship... what every the cause.
Trion dropped the ball just like this in Rift many times. CCP has also had their share. In Trion's case, they're working with the Gamebryo engine, which is one of the buggiest widely used engines on the market, and in CCP's case they're constantly pushing new engineering ideas into play with thier servers, so a bumpy road is expected.

I'm am 100% convinced that a lot of this is not solely the developers fault. Crystal Tools is not a robust engine, if anything it's flimsy as hell. I don't program for SE, but I'd imagine the game code to look pretty similar to being held together with popsicle sticks and chewing gum.

SE is not the one telling it's players to "Deal with it." Of course that's bad PR. But I am saying that a 4 hour maintenance is nothing to get your jimmies rustled over, and with a game like this players should be prepared for this to happen.

I looked this up and there is no connection with SE whatsoever, There is however a Final Fantasy zero, which the name was originally Final Fantasy Agito XIII. If Final Fantasy XIV was still turning into a failure they would 1 take the servers offline and take another year or two to make it better. Or they would discontinue it altogether. Square Enix is a HUGE Corporation that doesn't just give their titles away.

Hmm I played Rift at release, If I remember correctly even the beta. But I can't remember anything leaving me with so many bad impressions as SE does. CCP is Eve isn't it? I played two chars parallel and that also didn't leave so many bad impressions as SE does. Not sure why. Maybe it's just cause I'm deeper in to FFXIV then I was into any of those two games...

That was more directed towards the people sprouting that line around then towards SE. But indirectly SE actually does that too. Everytime they tell you it comes with 2.0. They just take a bit more care of theyr PR.

It's not really about just one 4 hour maintanance. It's more about that in my opinion the emergency patches get to much. I would rather prefer to have something like a weekly standard maintanance window where you actualy can plan around it then to have unpreditable breaks all the time.
From other MMORPGs I'm used to less emergency patches. Little problems get fixed in standard patch windows and only big ones actually get an emergency window. If if those all actually are problems worth an emergency patch then we are back to something needs to change.
