would be neat if if w could have mounts wandering around or parked on house property

have a limit based on size of house or house+fc size so you could designiate "parking spots" for mounts. and those mounts would be unavailable while parked @ the FC

I think they just need to expand apartments. Make the interior bigger and add a balcony/patio area to each one.

    No, instanced housing sucks.

Why would you look at WoW's amazing new housing system and then say we need something that's a downgrade from both that and what we have now?

What we really need is to take the improvements WoW is making and integrate them into XIV. More (ideally unlimited) wards, sharing your house between alts, etc

The only thing Instanced housing lacks is a front yard. Apartments and FC rooms don't have front yards and they're widely used. The islands are instanced and they are widely used. People barely look at their yard anyway. They just teleport to the house and walk inside.

There’s no reason instanced couldn’t have a yard though… other games have sprawling estates with multiple buildings on them.

Also no reason apartments couldn’t be given 3 different sizes like houses, with some including outdoor space, be that a small enclosed garden area or a balcony.

An instanced house could be just as equally functional as a ward plot, if not more so, they just have to deal with some way of handling the background scenery, which imo shouldn’t be that difficult with all the beautiful vistas in this game.

The reason people want instanced houses is so everyone can get a house.

As nice as it would be, I don't think WoW housing is going move SE very much. For one thing, I seriously doubt there are many players choosing one game over the other because of housing. Housing is a nice to have, but probably doesn't pay the bills. In any case, WoW is about the find out in 12 to 18 months I guess. Of course, I reserve the right to be utterly wrong about all of this! I think at best, housing may aid in player retention, but who knows? If SE knows, they aren't telling, and Blizzard has yet to find out. If I could ask for just one thing, it would be improved tools for house item placement. There are already some well known tools for this that they could, ahem, copy. If they do that, I promise I won't tell! It'll be our secret! wink wink

I don't think it's gonna move the needle much. It's just gonna entrench players that are already there.

It is a far cry from the final fantasy aesthetic, and I perfer this asthetic.

But I'd be for them putting a house around island sanctuary an call it a day

Oh I agree that instanced apartments can be greatly improved. I'd shell out a million gil right now for a larger multi-tiered apartment! As it stands, my apartment has 2 floors with the help of lofts. It'd be great if it had no item limit and was as large as a Mansion.

I do know that my best friend and my wife are returning to WoW because of housing. It'll never be as grand as FFXIV though. No game has this level of furniture that you can place in 3 dimensions. The Sims 3 doesn't even have this level! The only advantage to that Sims has is the ability to shape your own house- but furniture placement? FFXIV all the way.
