Why so many 18+ related player events in the party finders

Just because I don't care when adult people do private adult stuff, that does not mean that I don't care for the bad state and problems of the game. ^^"

People can ERP all they want, I don't care. I'd do it too.

The problem is that like Bethesda, Square Enix knows they can do the bare minimum and let modders fix everything for them. Not only that, but actually make content for them.

At this point why don't Square Enix just completely open up the game for modders to mod because I'm sure modders will unironically create a better game than SE.

You're never going to get rid of advertisements for products you don't like. Not in a video game, not in real life. That's censorship and is generally considered to be a bad thing. Driving along the Interstates in the US, you're bomboarded with advertisements for 18+ massage parlors and strip clubs aimed at the truckers. They don't ban the advertisements because the ads themselves aren't explicit, but everyone knows exactly what they are really advertising.

The 18+ indication is meant to protect the people hosting the parties. And meant to be a KEEP OUT sign to anyone who isn't interested in.

A better solution, and one that SE could actually address with an in game fix, would be allow us to choose which tab of the Party Finder that we personally want to load into when we open the menu, instead of the general one. That way the people who want to see the advertisements for clubs with live DJs could keep the general tab pinned as their start, and people who want to be in Hunts could have that one load as the default.

I'm gonna go make that suggestion right now in the UI forum, actually, because it's a lot more constructive than arguing about it in General.

It feels like they just take money from FF14 but give less back. Too many ressourecs pulled away and stuff. I am not satisfied with the state of the game since EW patchcontent. I have no clue if this can ever get better again.

To be fair, at this point even if SE starts providing great content, PF would still be filled with venue ADs regardless. It's just part of XIV now. Luckily for SE that also enables their laziness.

I went to one of these venues for the first time this past weekend and just danced in a corner to observe. It was the most vile, disgusting and honestly hilarious experience I've ever had in one of these games. The fact people openly talk like they do is wild. I started cackling when an innocent miqote chick arrived with a friend and the friend started being wild and freaky and the poor miqo exclaimed "My goodness! I had no idea you were a lady of the night!"

The 18+ advertisements in party finder and shouts can be annoying but I just look for the content I want to do and ignore them. Also the rating for the game that ESRB does is for the story only and they mention they don't rate online interactions.

the rating you see is for what content is in the game by the developers, but they cannot help what other people say and do
it's the nature of the game being an MMO

I don't think you'd have a lot to stand on with reporting them either
in fact, if you whip up a frenzy and get a bunch of people specifically to report these places then it could be seen as harassment, depending on how far it goes

It's not even just ERP. There are venues and FCs that are listed as 18+ simply because a lot of people don't want to play with children and have to worry about censoring themselves around underage players. It's just not worth the liability. I manage a small community and we're listed as 18+ not because there's any ERP but simply because we want to be able to talk about adult topics and life stuff without having to babysit anyone still in middle school.

And if you have any better ideas on what to do with the game when there's such a dearth of content besides have to make our own fun in our own little communities and play dress-up dolls in our virtual dollhouses with each other, I'd love to hear it. I'd go back through the game and do more old content on my alt except they ruined her face in Dawntrail, so I don't even want to load in and play as her anymore.

hate to tell you this but even back in heavensward and stormblood people were doing the courtesan thing. There was just a lower playerbase in general so you might not have seen it. Doesn't mean it didn't exist.
