Wouldn't it be cool if Garlean science spread across the world, ushering in a new age of advancement?

This is already happening with Garlond Ironworks.

They’ve already been supplying Eorzea with airships and motorcycles. They also have had computers they seem to be using for themselves. But they have been spending most of their time and resources on technology to fight a worldwide war against the country they defected from. Since the world is at peace now I’m sure they’d be realistically supplying Eorzea with Garlean tech.

Garlemald was already a superpower and Allag was before them so I don’t think Alexandria would be the first, just the only. They very nearly got there before we stopped them but the story is still new and we have more patches to go to see where their place in world society ends up.

Magitek has been in the base game since ARR. The only out of place sci-fi was Nier.

People should reread FFIX story, it's exactly the same, you begin FFIX in a medieval fantasy setting then you get revelation that the main character come from some super advanced people and others things soul related.

The only thing i will give people is that dawntrail "bad story" wasted a lot of potential, be it story or character wise but MAGITEK (fusion of magic and futuristic science) as always been a FF thing and if you don't like it you should just play something else and stop trying to change FF into something it isn't.

Come now. Magitek is taken right from ff6. Ff14 takes all sorts of things from the previous titles. But before it at least tried to remain the coherent look and some sort of a fresh take on the matter. Now it just straight up throwing all the things they could grab, not even sure with hope of something sticking, just throwing and forgetting. Saying like whoever points this out as not paying enough attention to the series is ironically inaccurate.
Ff14 is a theme park idea going of rails.

I think the more sci-fi leaning elements would be fine if they were incorporated in the storyline properly. Unfortunately Dawntrail does very little of anything ‘properly’ lol, especially the storyline.

I think it’s less that the sci-fi elements are out of place and more that the writing is so bad it’s making them feel out of place lol.

It’s like they have the individual pieces of the puzzle but haven’t bothered to actually put it together (if that makes sense to anyone lol)

Yep, that makes perfect sense.

They had all the pieces laid out in front of them, but instead of putting the puzzle together properly, they cut existing pieces into whatever shape fit their narrative, glued others together that barely connected, and held the whole mess together with sketchy tape.

It could almost pass as a modern art piece, if they weren’t charging money for it.

Were literally about to pull an into the spiderverse with ff14 and if your expecting the writers to explain any of this.....theres something mentally wrong with you on that front. Have you been paying attention there are so many plot points in DT thats literally glazed over. Like the boy who has lightning aether imbalance that we can cure, ir how bakool jaja never got punished for releasing wmd, or how azem key wven ended up here, or lets talk about how azem wven knew we were comming to help pandaemonium.....

do not insult ff9 like that. Maybe instead of reading you should play it again. Just based on your sentence i can tell that you have maybe a remembrace of the plot. yes it starts in a more fantasy setting and this last until the end of disc 3 where you open the portal to terra not beam yourselfe with out of nothing in. Then you have this old civilazation of genomes roaming arround created as a vassel for an old civilization of humanoids which are escaping death by do some sort of sleep and one single dude had the mission to save them all by merge them with another planet simmilar like their. This guy created a genome which mission it was to create as many chaos and death as possible problem is this puppet evolved an own mindset and a disgustingly strong one. So far so good you could compare Kuja a bit with zerool ja BUT heres the thing while Zerool ja made some stupid sort of timechamber from dragonball and then helped to invade our place Kuja was an actually present character you could follow. His setup on Braine and the war with lindblum the invasion of the forgotten continent or his connections in treno. Then you have the stupid clowns with the weird magic to extract eidolons from Dagger and Eiko. And then when you enter this hidden place from the ancient civil you discover that you the happy character whos helping everyone and just try to be a good guy is one of them. basicly a puppet who shall bring death to the other planet and the other guy you are hunting is basicly your brother. See thats so freaking diffrent and 10 times more exiciting then i time travlled no i kill my dad and the others invade you. Plus Kuja learned that his time is running out and he will die soon. So you have a narcistic character with a god complex finding out he will be gone soon and this triggers in him something you have in game for so long the trance. The outburst of emotion the fear of death brings him to the edge and he casts ultima to destroy terra basicly like gaius did in the msq. Do not say they are not the same bro yes the premise is like old people merge into new and the one kingdom named alexandria but thats it

So a sci-fi cyberpunk mega city with neon ads and Starbucks is now considered Magitek?
