Packet sniffers are old and completely separate pieces of software.Moderators just doing their job really, people don't need to know more than a thing exists and what it can do. Most youtuber's who cover FF have made videos on it already anyways.
Regarding the silence from SE, for me the most likely thing is just waiting it out and whoever they lose they lose. The least profit loss option is to do nothing and just lose whichever players are upset enough to unsubscribe.
Considering client side is never secure the compute power cost needed is probably more than the subscribers lost.
The most damaging to their bottom line I think would be adding an anti-cheat which is the only thing that has a hope of stopping you being tracked because no mods, it's not like to your majority pure social player there is anything else to do in the game besides use mods to make it a Second Life 2.0
If they didn't want to completely destroy their raiding scene they'd have to acknowledge allowance of certain third party software.
The cheapest option is to just lose players.
