In ER you actually get better at playing itself, in FF14 you learn a script, beat it, and the next boss you are back to being a complete noob. That’s why raiding feels so unrewarding, coupled with the fact that the biggest driving factor behind getting leet gear is usually to dominate (others) in the open world, which doesn’t exist in FF14.

Tbh the only content in this game that feels rewarding is doing deep dungeons solo, you can’t outright cheese or cheat it with plugins like you can Savages and Ultimates, at least not to the same degree, you are the tank, dps and healer combined, so everything will be on you if you mess up and compared to raids it allows for at least some sort of creativity and brain usage.

Playing with other people isn't an issue,

But it feels less fun doing a script that actual moment to moment reaction like ER bosses, like if you compare which easier I dont know but both have easier solutions to their problem, in ER you farm weapon/skills to make the boss easier, in FFXIV you have raise and healer LB and enrage that isnt as tight as it used to be, so both of them have its dificulty.

But I am talking about the journey to kill the boss/savage, it doesnt feel rewarding in FFXIV as much as ER.

When my friend described that savage feels like "test" it really made me think why is that true in savage not in ER? While the answer I believe most of people said here, but it is good to share other people prespective.

I have raided in SHB and Endwalker, and have been a hardcore raider in the past sweating over my parses in other MMORPG's.

I feel like a majority of the issues with raiding in FFXIV to me come down to how jobs play. There are no talent trees, no niche roles to fill, and deaths seem rather meaningless. When a key role dies in other games, a DPS has to step up and either help with healing, or throw a shield on and start tanking. Those clutch wins make raiding more exciting when key roles die and everyone has to step up their game to clutch the kill. Raiding in FFXIV doesn't give me that same rush. Loot also doesn't matter if you're not interested in doing more high end duties. Ie; Crafted armor set feels no different than your savage set when all you're doing is Ilvl synced roulettes, crafting, or other casual activities ingame.

Now since people on these forums apparently read like twelve year olds, I'm not saying raiding is bad. I don't enjoy it, and I prefer sticking to the casual content this game offers since raiding doesn't really have anything to offer me.

Fun is subjective, that's the beauty of it. What you could find fun could not be fun for someone else and so on.

It's simple if you have friends you'll enjoy raiding in XIV more than ER. If you have no friends ER is more fun because you don't need anyone to care about you to play it.

ER and other soulslike games are not reactive tho. Reactive action is DMC and alike. Souls are anticipating/waiting for an opportunity after observing and learning the pattern/dance.

I think the problem isn't that the game has a pattern or dance-like combat, it is about how static and scripted the game is.

Souls like games feels like a pattern and dance-like sometimes that also exist in FFXIV but in ER specially souls-like games you can predict the next step rather than following 100% scripted fight.

I appreciate that some savage mechanics have few elements of surprise but it is really few so it is 100% a scripted one.

Time gated loot and loot lockouts is why I stopped. If loot worked like normal mode where you can run it as many times as it takes to get a lucky roll then I would. But being lucky enough to get a party that can actually clear and then unlucky enough to get nothing from the loot after... that's too much RNG for my tastes.

I would say other difficult games like Fromsoft titles... you're always making SOME KIND of progress on a material level, even when you're struggle bussing.

Oh heck yes. At least for learning it would be fantastic... No sitting in party finder. Dip in to practice whenever you like for as long as you like. No recriminations or feeling bad if you mess up. Never going to happen of course. But we'd never need to worry about midcore content again if you could practice anything with trusts, since the barrier to entry would be zero.
