This was reported as a bug for an ARR FATE. I tested it myself and it is clearly intentional. It warns you that "You are far above the recommended level for this FATE. Your contribution will be ignored."

As such, it was put as Working As Intended.

Well, something here isn't adding up.

the difference here is that an ARR Fate doesn't have another system behind it (the gems / 60 fates per zone etc) while EW/DT does. You can be max level in EW and DT fates and still get credit. ARR fates only give EXP, thus if you're too high level, then your contribution will be ignored.

That's missing the point. The OP is reporting this problem with EW and DT FATEs, and is given an explanation that specifically only explains the behavior for ARR FATEs. The answer does not fit the problem.

Uh, yes it does... ARR FATEs and EW/DT FATEs are the exact same thing: FATEs.

The rule is the same, regardless of expansion: if you hand in while being too high level, you do not get credit for what you handed in. You must click the Level Sync button and the game makes this clear when it puts in your chat window:

"You are far above the recommended level for this FATE. Your contribution will be ignored."

ARR has GC seals as a reward instead of gemstones. Either way, too high level, no rewards.
