Every single skill lists the amount of potency damage the skill does. The rotation that does more potency damage, is the one that will more hp damage to the boss given the same gear / circumstances.

Why should the devs say anything about it? The math is right there, just read the tooltips. Why would you think it's okay willfully deal less damage in the first place? This isn't a "dev vs player" situation, it's a "player vs basic decency" situation.

U do not enjoy investing time in the class you play and you do not want to invest time into gearing up... and you are surprised people do not enjoy investing time into playing with you? Playing them for fun is perfectly fine in most circumstances, but if you're going into an encounter which requires xyz damage to complete as not meet enrage, and if you're playing with random people who have an agreed mindset on what should be accomplished then you absolutely should be more considerate of what and how you play. It's not like you're the first time player or new to the environment for that matter.

The part emboldened is important, because this is what you're failing to understand.. People have made these parties with a very specific goal of completing the objective on farm, but then you're joining seeking exclusively fun on a class that you yourself have admitted you're not good at.

It's not like you've gone into a full alliance of people you're friends with, and had it agreed with them as to what they personally find acceptable. You've gone into that encounter with a full group of random people on a starkly different mindset.

It's all well and good saying "Well SE haven't mandated it", or "Well we're still meeting damage checks" etc., etc., but the behavior is still ultimately very discourteous to those you're playing with.

The second you join a party that is going for a kill, you are absolutely doing a disservice to your other players by not giving your best. That's just rude behavior.
And while I am a proponent of players being allowed to slack off a bit in games if they just want a relaxing time, games where a team expects and depends on you to play well is definitely not the right place for such a mindset.

The Chaotic Alliance Raid is a combat encounter. 24 players in a team against an NPC controlled by programming logic. The successful completion of this encounter requires the players to drop the boss's hp to 0 before the enrage cast. That's the situation you sign up for, when deciding to engage with this content. If the circumstances and the activity isn't fulfilling your definition of "fun", you are simply doing the wrong activity. This is what always bugs me with a large amount of the community. This is first and foremost a combat game. Especially in the myriad of combat duties. If engagement in the combat activities doesn't bring you "fun", please find a different game which offers activities that do. For your own sake.

Only in video games has this type of argumentation been normalized. I mean, have none of you ever joined a sports club or any other club for chess or anything? Even the most casual of casual pickup groups for any sports I know, still require all participants to at least play the game in the first place. If someone doesn't want to run after the ball, they get kicked from teams faster than they could blink.

To me it seems like you want to put in no effort and expect other people to pick up your slack. Going into a chaotic I'd expect people not to want to waste 23 other peoples time and put in effort and that mean going in a Job that they feel can contribute damage. Unless you have the perfect run Which even farm parties I've been in don't have all that extra DPS matters.
