Why should it be a contest who has the best events in the first place?
Seriously, people dunking on these are just as desperate like those who defend them.
It's not really a contest, it's more looking at seeing what others are doing and why those events might be successful, and what SE could or should consider adopting for future events, versus the two quest tokenism they have currently going on.
You know, like most sane people interested in seeing a product improve would do, just as most sane companies would do well to understand what successful things others are doing in the genre with their events.
Given the other companies and their events and some of the decisions, I'd say they can be just as bad as SE themselves. It's not really a contest, it's more looking at seeing what others are doing and why those events might be successful, and what SE could or should consider adopting for future events, versus the two quest tokenism they have currently going on.

At the very least, SE is consistent with giving rewards through simple quests that you can use at any given time. Unlike some others, where RNG dicates your experience, or leave the rewards locked behind the event duration.
Or give you half a handful of premium store pages for titles and flairs for the occasion, while even offering less than what XIV gives when it comes to content by warming up the same exact same event.
Could SE do better? Absolutely, they could. And they need a shake-up on this.
But approaching the issue with cynism, sarcasm and/or gesture around where 'everyone does better than this'? No - Take a actual closer look before stating this.
Uh, with all due respect whilst slop might be consistent, it certainly isn't a good thing by any stretch of the imagination, and frankly FOMO with this game is just as bad, sure it's a nice token gesture you can get them through 2 quests, but this is not going to stop them from monetizing the limited rewards next year. Like they do every year. Oh, you wanted that Illuminated Topiary Chocobo?? Better pay for it. Wanted the Saint's Attire? Hello Mogstation!! Personally, I would prefer some element of RNG, it would at the very least encourage me to login and actually engage with the event. Give lockboxes, add current in-game items to it in addition to other rewards and then funnel them in like an RNG version of treasure trove.Given the other companies and their events and some of the decisions, I'd say they can be just as bad as SE themselves.

You do not get good faith and gestures when those in turn do not bother to actually address -- Not even acknowledge the issue... When you don't even do these things, then you are really just asking for cynicism, sarcasm and/or 'gesturing around'. People have been asking for better events for a really long time.
