Aren't holiday quests a waste of development time and effort right now?

Yes, they are releasing Holiday content. Not only is it neat, and provides cool little trinkets that only the people that participated will have (unless they make trade-able items), but it is a strong tradition in SE MMO. Yes, other mmo's make some holiday events too, but this is "new" content for ffxiv. Don't sit here and whine and whine and f'ing whine about this new content just because you don't care to participate in it..

If you want little cool trinkets, Maple Story is your game. This is Final Fantasy. You can't have it. I dunno where you came from or where you think you're going, but Holiday event-->Crappy quest release--->holiday event---->Crappy quest release is not going to cut it around here.

Free event items, equip, awesome snow/flower petals, decorations in town, a FREE GAME TO PLAY. Has to be an April fools joke... This thread makes me laugh. :3

I would say that SE announcing yet another filler holiday event as the game's stalled out pattern gets more and more chronic was the April fool's joke. Sadly, it's not. Where did the talk of companies go? It...well..er...HOLIDAY TIME AGAIN GUYZ!

I'm not kidding. At all. This is no joke. I've had it with the poor devlopmental direction and choices that aren't budging. This event hurts FFXIVs image and should have never happened until next year. It sends the wrong message to all the gamers out there who are still checking on this game.

They have become their subscription fee. The content they're releasing has become free to play caliber.

Don't sit there and talk about how you came from FF11. FF11 earned the right to host holiday events because it HAD content and meaningful play. FF14 has not.

I dont think square has ever sold a project off, I'd imagine they'd sooner shut down a project completely.

Square has never had a product do this poorly with no exit strategy. To shut it down is to lose whatever worth it might have to a F2P company.
