I completely agree and this is only the 2nd time I see eye to eye with Rokien. I am very disappointed in how this will be implimented. Seriously if I look at all the instances they have add, it makes me wonder if this will be the norm for 2.0. I can understand somethings being 4,8,16 or 32 man groups. That said players need stuff that you can do w/o a small group or full party or instanced. Hamlet defense should not have a group requirement, there is no excuse the Devs or the players can use orr say to justifiy what they have done with hamlets.I was getting so pumped about Hamlet Defense, till I read this.....
"If the 50-hour preparation period is over and the call-to-arms has been sounded, form a party of 8 members and speak with the militia captain to enter the instanced area. Once the instance has been entered, jobs and classes will be locked and players will not be allowed to change their weapons or soul crystals."
really, only 8 people AND INSTANCED!
SE I thought we went over this whole instanced thing already. We want open world stuff.
We shouldn't need to form a party, it should just be max 20 people sign up(form a party if you want). With instanced mobs. Ya know, like with leves and stuff.
~Don't get me wrong I'm sure it will be pretty fun and awesome... stilll give me a break here.
They have an old saying: If you cant do it right dont do it alt all. I dont care what excuses they can come up with, its getting old plain and simple. What should SE have done than was not impliment it till 2.0 thats the bottom line!
Agreed 100%. I also think they coulda done 20man groups w/ a few small waves of instanced mobs in the open world at the very least, similar to behest but HNM type mobs that can't be facerolled with AoE spam.
yep, I agree. They should have waited, though I still think they could have done it without it being instanced, just look at the bosses for strongholds, 30+ people with mobs. That worked fine.
Can't forget about all the gear you could buy using notes for lower leveled jobs that were at least decent enough to level in. Not talking endgame stuff, but you know...even at wotg people were still actively exping and leveling jobs<_<I remember the gear you could buy with the allied notes was pretty bad, and below salvage / sky / king / nyzul / gear when it came out most people at 75 didn't bother with it unless they were trying for some crappy exp or rank up for wotg missions then never touched it. Also most of the items had a condition only does X in campaign. They didn't add random chests to it for junk logs, 1 or 2 dynamis currency until a couple patchs later.
And I was hoping for a more campaign like experience as well. How many events do you get to go on your favorite job and just screw around for hours on end? That is what made campaign and besieged so fun, the fact that there was no structure you just fought to protect or attack something. On my server, a lot of people still participated in it, I know my ls did it, nothing like tearing through campaign with a party full of empy's. Or watching 20+people gang up on a huge boss while lower level mages would support from the outskirts. I loved these events simply because it was simple, just fight and have fun lol
Hmm, I bought this game thinking it would be close to XI. I thought it would have kind of a different flavor and better graphics, after all it did take all the same races from XI, same combat system, same targeting system and claim system.
The camp/claim system is a staple of XI, there was a good balance in XI with BCNM, and pop items to also obtain gear.
You could get the some of the same gear that a NM dropped from a bcnm. but i frown to hear that 80% of players dont like the claim nm system. Is XIV mostly casual players?
Yes, just read the forums, people are like all over me for trying to make the game less casualHmm, I bought this game thinking it would be close to XI. Why was this thread moved? Hit too close to home?

Kinda doubt we'll get an answer on that.. guessing their big fans of the instanced stuff, along with the dev's apparently. May not be the game for us afterall.. its losing the potential to even live up to what XI once was.
