As a long time MMO player, trusting randoms with something valuable of yours in-game is tantamount to virtual suicide. At worst, someone you don't know sees the open plot and wins the lottery, and now you're out of all the gil you spent on the stupid thing in the first place. Or, actually, even worse, an FC mate gets your plot then decides he wants to keep it for himself. I've seen it happen in this game and others.
