Should the devs remove the tier number?

Sorry to off-topic a little, but this is my first PVP season and the whole riser thing has me confused. I was expecting an ELO style thing.

How do stars and risers actually work in terms of losses? Can we actually drop down from say diamond to bronze, or do we just go down from say diamond 1 to diamond 5?

You can drop from crystal all the way down to platinum 4. The lowest ya can go once ya hit platinum tier. Won’t go back down to gold again.
