My Huyr face 1 has also been degraded. Now she has bags under her eyes and she looks so sad like she's been tired or depraved from sleeping.

I stopped playing back mid-August. I know it's stupid and really immature for me to be so upset at graphics on a screen, but I h.a.t.e. the way my character looks, and she looks so much worse now than before. There's nothing to be done for it. The devs, so far as I can tell, didn't take any of the feedback given. I've just given up on ever enjoying my character. In my head, yes it is silly I know better than those judging, I've just written my warrior of light into retirement and will probably be quitting the game for good soon. That's a 1.x XIV original supporter / former forum whiteknight player done too.
Not just the lips, unfortunately. I wouldn't like it, but I could live with JUST that. The eye shape was changed and they were made bigger. Pupils were turned into massive black blobs that make her look like she's trying to roll her eyes into the back of her head. Her nose smudge is nowhere near as prominent now. And her skin always has this weird sheen like she's been dunked in oil.
Everything I loved about her appearance is just gone. I had to swap to Highlander just to be able to play through the MSQ without staring at a hideous face. If they would fix it, I would change back immediately, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
Face 1 female Hyurs were really badly done - almost everything about the structure & shading was altered for the worse.
Dark bags under the eyes, the jaw & chin appears to be longer/pointy compared to the roundish shape pre-DT. The nose & lips have changed shape entirely, to the point the character looks entirely different. The colouring for eyeshadow & lips is generally darker and it's difficult to find a subtle shading which doesn't turn too comically bright. The skin itself looks very doughy for a lack of better description depending on the lighting :/
The pictures are a little dark so that’s what popped out at me right away. *hugs* Ironically my Highlander looks more like a Roe now, because they straightened the bridge of her nose and where it curves into the brow. If it’s not fixed, I may change back to a Midlander on that character, much as I love the Highlander body. Not just the lips, unfortunately. I wouldn't like it, but I could live with JUST that. When I look at all the pictures the two biggest things that stand out are the eyes, where most faces’ eyes don’t seem to open as wide as they used to, and the mouths, most of which have their upper lip reduced and the curve of it incorrectly drawn, combined with philtrums that were randomly changed for some reason and made more pronounced.
I really hope they’re not entirely done yet… I’m saving my latest free Fantasia until they officially call it quits. Just sad that in a game where most players are really attached to their characters, that this was handled so poorly.![]()

Your Elezen female character looks great on both the left and right to me. But I guess if you've had this character for potentially years and they changed small elements, they'd stick out more.
Am a new post Dawntrail player, but funny you mention about lighting. If I stand my Miqot'e in the wrong place, her eyes look kinda sunken into her skull, like she's a deer in the headlights.
I tried to take some new gposes after the patch… really doesn’t look like they changed much at all for my face. Just feel like I went from Highlander Barbie to her older cousin… the brows are wrong, the bridge of the nose doesn’t curve, the tip of the original was upturned while the new one isn’t, the eyeballs aren’t in the same place making the eyes in general look weirdly hooded, the jawline is a totally different shape, and my pouty lips had their Cupid’s bow curves practically reduced to points. Whether or not someone else thinks she “looks better” this way isn’t the point. She’s just not my character anymore. Her “overall look and feel” is gone.

I was going through some old pre-DT pics, and decided to retake an old one with roughly the same lighting and shaders....
This doesn't feel like the same character at all, and it doesn't feel like my character. I still get genuinely sad looking at my older screenshots, because the character I created and fell in love with over the past 3 years is just... gone. It's still wild to me that they had the audacity to assure us that our characters wouldn't be dramatically changed, that it would basically only be a texture/shading upgrade, and then they did... this.
