I still think they should give MCH walking casts like it does in PVP which will allow its damage to be dramatically increased, and actually allow it sit along side the other non buff DPS jobs. Replace the clean shot combo with Blast Charge, a 1.5 second walking cast GCD, and set its potency to something generous like 400 which is in line with PCT's RGB GCDs. Every three Blast Charges, you get access to an oGCD attack that builds battery so that resources are gained at the same rate. Everything else like tools, and Hypercharge can remain instant. Set the potency of Blazing shot to something close to 400 potency as well, and increase the potency of tools in relation to everything else. Replace Wildfire with the sniper rifle from PVP, and make it like a 1300+ potency auto dhcrit with a short cast every 2 minutes.

Sadly a lot of the creativity has gone into PvP, yeah...would like that too for some complexity and that way casts could warrant higher damage if their philosophy is what we think it is.
I'd be very happy if the phys ranged role was completely reworked in 8.0.
The rework can be designed so they can have dps damage similar to some caster or melee dps.
Could give them the heavy castbar from PvP.
Maybe some melee or proximity based attacks. Even a castbar or two. Restrict their movement for periods of time and make them fight a bit for uptime.
For 3 entire expansions BRD/DNC/MCH have been mainly taken along for the 1% ranged dps party buff, rather than for the jobs themselves. The current p.range design philosophy did not and continues to not work.
If it was a melee job or Picto I'm sure they'd listen!

If they just could bring back the utility dps, the mch trick attack (from the pet yo know...) i would probably just be happy.
MCH as selfish dps is a failure since it exist... (except for some fight)
They really wanted to kill the double phys range meta and went too heavy handed with MCH as a result of that.
Serenaya has some good points and i think they should be considered.
Leaving this comment here just to bump the thread.
Really good post about the issues Machinist is facing currently. Hopefully this gets seen by the developers.
