    DQX has both Puklipo and Dwarves, and you can also play as a Human child if you want the kid hero vibe.

    I second this. Dwarves in Dragon Quest X have a lot of charm and are incredibly fun to play. They have all the quirkiness that you can enjoy with Lalas but are a bit more mature looking and have gender characertistics.

    If you want pure *Lala* then the Puku's are for you. They're furry little balls of comedy. DQX has been translated by fans using Clarity so I highly recommend trying it. It's got a free trial. Sure it's a bit more round about than other MMOs but my many months playing DQX has been nothing but fun.
