    Can we predict with the changes? Sure, re-learn the timing for every ability and so on. But now everything is telegraphed. Everything is slower. The windup is felt, because the element of surprise and fast gameplay is lost. I lose LoS on an ability with a wind up and now we're back to the beginning of the animation. You make space and suddenly we're back to the beginning of the animation. Before that was the case for some, now its the case for most.

    Over all the predictive nature and fast action of pvp is what drew me to it after the big overhaul. If I could CTRL+Z 7.1 I would.
    The changes to LoS gameplay are so weird because there are skills that get cancelled mid-animation like you described. And then there are other abilities like PCT's black commet that follow you around while the animation is still playing and hit you even when you've long disappeared behind a wall.
    At the moment I really miss the old way LoS worked. It was snappier and more intuitive. And ironically I think escaping or making recoveries before 7.1 was also easier, even if you couldn't block/avoid attacks by reading animations like in 7.1 because your own recovery skills were a lot more responsive, quick and intuitive too.
    Maybe I'll grow used to it but the speed of the old gameplay is something I always enjoyed a lot.

    As a GNB main, I’m very disappointed with losing Draw & Junction. It really felt like the core identity of the job, giving it a distinct feeling from the rest of the roster. Now it feels like every other tank, where the player has “big damage button” and “big defensive button” without much depth. Sure, it’s still effective, but it feels a lot more one-dimensional. I’m hoping they bring it back in a future update, but my knee-jerk reaction is I’m afraid that the direction they’re going is promoting homogeneity across roles.


    As a side-note, I agree with everything OP said. Playing with the animation delays feels like I’m playing underwater and it becomes more confusing to process what’s going on compared to pre-patch.

    Also please show viper some love for the love of god

    Why would they take away the tiny burst I had and give my this pitiful self-sustain...? I am baffled, I played viper in pvp since it dropped. It wasn't perfect by a long shot but with the damage output it felt at least i could contribute by going for picks and cutting off escapes. Now I can barely make an astro flinch even if they are low its depressing. I will stick with Viper because i love the job but the devs really need to play it themselves to dee what i am talking about from how Viper use to be its just so sad now. Like watching your once able-bodied grampa have hip surgery and still think he's as spry as her use to be.

    Finally someone that appreciated the pre-patch viper (and also commenting on it in general since the update heh).

    Nyep. Guess the pvp devs can't do basic math when it came to what potential it had with Slither-boosted Uncoiled, especially under LB debuff. Feel proper betrayed that they DID actually mess around with the job, despite saying they wouldn't.

    It's like... they saw all them guys using LB with no buffs ever, cancelling from the get go, and took that as the feedback... despite some pleas I left behind in another thread. Problems maintaining buffs? Gone! Cancelling LB straight into Ouro every time? No biggy. We put a leech on to make you feel slightly less silly when you do that~ now it's part of the plan, nobody is the wiser. Oh but Ouro still takes several eons to register, since we know you guys loved that.

    I'm gettin' used to this brawler playstyle that's expected to roll with the punches now that they've doubled down on the kamikaze Scales nonsense (seriously..? They made Backlash the hardest hitting attack..?), may even learn to like it, but I'm certainly unsettled by the fact they changed it a lot by making these "little tweaks" to it. Can't trust 'em with anything.

    Not even gonna comment on anything else, it all feels so damn floaty (despite "neat" tricks you can do with the delays) and ironically vpr is the only melee that feels okay to handle right now. At least for me.

    Here I thought the response changes they would make might extend to Guard, some other utility skills and LBs. So much for that.

    Yes! thank god someone finally can see it too. I genuinely want to ask whoever thought this was a good idea why??? like people are now saying Viper was always bad or something when NO it wasn't super over tuned like some of these classes, but it was more technical. Play it enough and you know what you can go for and what you can't.

    Also, yes idk why tf they keep doubling down on this shitty skill snake scales, if they want it to be good how about this. make it so i can backlash as soon as i pop it with no delay. also, ad a thorn effect on it, anyone that hits you while you are doing scales will take so and so feedback damage or something it would help it so fucking much and actually encourage the kind of kamikaze skills use.

    But above all else, I am pissed they just fucking lied after they said they wouldn't touch the class. I was sadden they wouldn't give it some love but i learned to deal with it as I said it could do decent damage. Now? I dueled a rdm and can't even get him to half after using ALL of my kit its insane. #FiXVPR

    PvP wise SMN main here, most of the time playing frontlines. I'm barely playing due not finding frontlines fun since shatter map rework (it was my fave map), and today I finally had time not only to play the new patch but also play frontlines to farm the new glam.

    What in the seven hells they did to SMN? Like, why mountain buster is now a half centimeter melee range stun that will not work 99% of the time due how janky the servers are with the imposed 100ms + whatever janky change the devs did? Better, why it's a melee skill in a ranged job?

    Honestly, I wish they never tried to "fix" pvp from what it was in ShB, bc at least I had lots fun there.

    Like, sorry for the rant, but I feel like playing WoW again during it's worst years were if you're not a hardcore raider you're same as nothing in terms of content made... Now I need a new ranged job since it's almost impossible to play as melee with the way things are... e.e

    Removing the Draw and Junction mechanic from GNB is such a punch in the gut, it was what set it apart from the other tanks and now its identity has been completely stripped away because I guess they couldn't come up with some way to rework the current actions to be more useful?

    I find it more funny that Viper is still a free kill aka sacrafice.

    Other than that, it is clear that the Team working on PvP has no clear direction of what they want in this Game Mode.

    It feels like they threw ideas in a pot and randomly drew out the notes and then implemented those they drew.
