Dawntrail Graphics Update - Eye Strain

Yeah, I still can't turn off bloom, wet surface effects, graphics upscaling and the so-called "ghosting" effect is still there. I skipped most of the MSQ because I got a headache after 20 minutes of running around. I'm so done with this bs.

I guess it's cheaper for them to ignore this until we quit than to pay someone to fix this mess. Bad news, I will not quit. At this point I'm thinking about contacting press. An article about SE ignoring health concerns would embarrass them. Kotaku might be interested. Or maybe some content creators. I don't know if this is a good or bad idea but I'm tired of begging here and in e-mails just to be ignored. :|

I think it's worth a shot. I figure worst case scenario you'd get: "We don't want to cover that"

Yeah, I'm still needing to wear sun glasses to play and I had some nausea earlier when watching someone do Interphos EX. They made some great QOL changes, but I really feel like some more stuff for this should have been addressed. It makes no sense that settings were just outright removed with no way to fiddle around with them.

This is probably the best bet, particularly if you reach out to someone with an interest in accessibility in gaming. A lot of great examples have been provided in the thread of the reported issues, the efforts to try and get some kind of update about it, and a timeline of the opportunities the devs have had to respond to it and not acknowledged it (there have been a few graphics-related posts about other things). For a while I was directing people from offsite here under the notion that the devs take feedback from the official forums more seriously than they do feedback from elsewhere. That doesn't seem to have worked.

Part of the reason this is so disheartening to me is that this is more an issue of management than cost. The graphics update is still a work in progress, and while they're openly working on the character models they're still updating other parts of the game too. The option to adjust graphical settings needs to be a part of their continued work on the graphics update. Every opportunity they've had to acknowledge the issues brought up in this thread, we've gotten complete silence. It doesn't even warrant a place on the Known Issues list as of 7.1. The best we can assume is that they consider this to be working as intended, and that's unacceptable.

Not eye strain, but the strobing in the 7.1 msq dungeon made me physically ill--I had to stop partway through the dungeon to go for my migraine meds, and I am categorically not going to be able to run expert roulette without a friend party that's willing to carry me through one of the bosses so I can close my eyes. If people are reaching out to journalists about eyestrain I hope the increasing flashing/strobing can be brought up too (and I'd mention it elsewhere if I knew where to mention it).

I'm interested! My sub runs out in a few days so I would need an alternative way to keep in contact though.

hi, was wondering if anyone else has noticed or is bothered by the "rain" and particularly "showers" weather effects? idk if this started w 7.0 and i hadnt noticed or it started w 7.1, but man is it hard to look at my screen when the weather is showering, i havent seen snow or thunder yet either (my first post on the forums bc bad rain)

Yes, rain has been awful for me since 7.0, but it's not in every case. Usually it's when it's raining and at night. It's particularly bad in South Shroud. The screen ends up looking like nothing but black and specks of white.

Edit: I also remember some folk posting screens of them having issues with it earlier in the thread if I'm not misremembering.
