    Which funnily enough still hasn't been solved. They all play 95% the same but Gunbreaker and especially Dark Knight perform significantly better in both rDPS and aDPS than Warrior or Paladin, the single exception being M4S where Paladin's range helps with the heavy melee downtime, and after this patch the gap is going to be even wider.

    PLD and GNB had near identical damage output in M4S due to how well PLD handles the downtime.

    The fix here is not to bring tank damage in line. The fix is to make GNB and DRK's damage rotations more interesting and complex, with more room for optimisation, so that the difference in damage output is warranted.

    If we're going to make all the tank jobs 123 spend with identical damage output, we might as well just make 1 job called "tank" and WAR, PLD, GNB and DRK are just skins that you buy on Mogstation.

    Mao sad. Changes to BLMs only reinforcings Mao conclusion that SE gonna go full steams ahead with DDR fights and simplifyings jobs. Mao feels for everyone else here whats also upset with changes. Mao hopings that people whats still playing FFXIV after Mao leaves will still has funs, even if game changing into something whats looking less and less like traditional fantasy role playing game and more and more like combats DDR. Is just nots for Mao though. On happy note, Mao been playings Dragon in WoW and Mao been havings blast! Mao gets to barf fires on everythings!

    Their answer was instead to simplify the burst phases for GNB and DRK in 7.0, and they've now simplified GNB's again.

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    That might have been the intention but in practice it's a DPS loss to cast an Afflatus heal in place of Holy, given that you can dump lilies out of combat and still get your Afflatus Misery off on the next pack.

    You also don't need to weave heals when you've already cast an Afflatus heal. I'm not going to cast Afflatus Solace so that I can weave Benediction, am I?

    An encounter with trash packs is usually long enough you need to dump at least one lily in uptime if not two. The distribution of uptime vs downtime in a normal dungeon run meant you couldn’t use only downtime lilys. The system was a coordinated use for uptime lilys and is also why it worked better before misery was DPS neutral in single target

    All jobs are DPS jobs in XIV. The gap between a good and bad healer in XIV is near identical to the gap between a good and bad DPS player in terms of raw DPS.
