It makes sense tho that they are leaning more into the modern aesthetic than they have in previous expansions, because Alexandria, and more specifically Solution 9, is a large part of the setting.
Previous expansions we only got a handful of modern stuff vs a ton of fantasy-leaning sets from crafting, dungeons, raids etc.

I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.

Endwalker was relentless with their casual glams. I swear, there are at least 8-10 iterations on casual slacks in the game now. IT really bothers me that Yoshi.P is so against cross role armor due to delusions of it being lore breaking, meanwhile the gear design team is turning XIV into the Sims 4 every chance they get.

And on medieval side we'd have:
    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12( yes, 12), 16. If we're counting Ivalice, Tactics.
All of then have knights running around on full armor, classic kingdom and castles.

    As I said, it's not a rule.
Back to XIV, is very understandable where they're coming from, as the non casual gear mesh better with the general aesthetic of locations/NPCs.

The series in its entirety covers a lot of territory, but if you put Lightning or Noctis into 1-5, 9, 11, or 16, they would look jarringly out of place. 14 started with a mix of low-mid fantasy and steampunk(Aldenard natives) and high fantasy leaning into sci-fi(Garlemald, Allag, etc), but that internal consistency has been completely thrown out the window. You couldn't slap a character wearing these sci-fi/cyberpunk/modern casualwear sets into the crowds in the cinematics and say it makes sense.

I'm someone who generally likes the casual glams, because usually you can find something from them to piece with other gear, and a lot of my combat glams are a mix of combat-focused gear and casual pieces.

I think I agree that the amount of casual glams that all generally look similar is...not as enticing?

The thing that bothers me most often with the casual glams is there is often one or two little details that turn my vague interest into actual dislike because whatever the thing is completely ruins the look to me. I generally like the recent event glam, and I was considering tossing the top on a glam plate at least for a little while, but the wings on the back completely ruined the look for me. I know it's a Halloween glam and I shouldn't be mad about it, but like...I dunno.

And this kinda is why the casual glams looking a bit similar is not appealing, because I might go, "Oh, finally, a pair of pants that I think look decent" and then it turns out there's something weird about them and ruins the appeal entirely? At least for me. So I'm getting tired of them especially because they're perfectly fine except for things that get added on and ruin the ability to mix and match things. If that makes sense.

I'm so sick of it. So much wasted resources spent on modeling the same pair of pants over and over again

Pretty much everything in the OP (even the 1.0 part lol).. I like the nuance of it being okay to exist, but the expectation and source of this casual gear was a little bit of a let down.

This. If they kept the casual outfits congruent with the visual style of Garlemald or Allag it would be one thing, but a vast majority of them literally just look like "clothes I can find in real life stores right now".

Gotta admit, seeing this makes me even more annoyed about the Viera/Hrothgar hat situation...

To be fair, the Salon slacks are quite different, and I think most of the Darbar pants are more detailed than the one shown here, but overall I've been making this complaint for some time.

They are also very commonly paired with plain wrist-length full-fingered gloves and lace-up leather shoes. Set after set providing nothing new and different that can be easily mixed with other styles of clothing.
