I'll give you an example, no latin american I know appreciates north americans referring to them as Latinx, they like latino or latina. The spanish language is gendered, and they don't appreciate other cultures rewriting their language to fit their sensibilities.
Oh I'm aware. I'm half Mexican myself (though my Spanish is mierda) and I'm mostly annoyed by how the cultures were treated with kid gloves. They had an opportunity for something real cool. Most Latinos embrace the colonial history to some extent because that's in our culture and literally in our DNA. But instead they just did Tacos, Alpacas, and the equivalent of a New Yorker's idea of Texas after watching half a John Wayne movie during a red-eye flight while nursing a hangover.

But the Twitter piss-babies I was referring to was pretty much entirely from a North American audience. It's just annoying they'll try to appeal to the sensibilities of people who don't matter.

And since I'm ranting. The fact that All Saint's Wake wasn't at least partially inspired by Day of the Dead is a real shame.
