I wear it because I welcome players needing help.
But-
I will give advice when asked.
I practice player etiquette but will not force people to.
I will never actively preach sprouts when they do not need not ask for it. That is just obnoxious.

I have been out of the NN because it is really not that helpful and most information is readily available online. Honestly, that global chat has evolved so far from what it is intended to be.

I do not claim I'm pleasant nor actively want to. I really just want to enjoy my game in peace.

So based on my experienced I shared, you are basically saying since we wear the crown, we are no longer allowed to have IRL emergencies? Since we wear the crown, we are no longer allowed to prog hard content and know a mechanic right away? That it is FINE for people to be hostile and toxic to us? Wow... Interesting take. If you want mentors to be taken seriously, get rid of the crown and raise the bar for becoming a mentor. Shift the in game rewards to other content to get rid of the checked out achievement farmers so only altruistic people who actually want to teach, and not use it for a status symbol will want to be a mentor. As it stands all a mentor will do is teach you bad gaming habits, and give you information you can find with a google search *IF* they interact with you at all.

I do not want to be taken seriously. I just want to not experience hostility and toxicity for reasons less warranted.

I just ended up turning my mentor crown off, because it's frankly not worth the hassle anymore. The toxicity in this game towards people wanting to help others is astounding. I even have macros for certain alliance raids explaining the fights. Deleted, I got scolded for teaching someone. Now, I just let people suffer, die and figure it out. Sometimes, I don't even bother raising any longer on certain people because they don't even make the attempt at getting out of the mechanics at all.

So, thank our community for turning a somewhat decent system of recognition into a hate show. It's almost as bad as politics in game, and you posting some sign in your yard that you are a Mentor, only to have this community take a virtual dump on your lawn.

This is why I only interfere when asked. Because often than not, trying to help just puts you in a bad light.
I will not remove mine just because people don't like it. If you don't like it, don't look at it. Put me on blacklist and hide me for all I care. I am not adjusting, and nor should you.
