What you're suggesting would be similar to the Forge mode editor of the Halo games. I would love that feature myself and would make decorating much funner and easier too.I am and so is is many others really tired of how you are having to place things inside houses.
It has been neglected for too long.
1. We would like a Z Axis for any object and virtually be able to place anything anywhere any height, without having to use other in game features to make it happen.
1a. you could had various toggle buttons if you need to place partitions accurate on walls and more to it.
2. Ability to link objects to objects making eg. artificial table top items and not.
3. the ability to float your character around in the air while building stuff so can see any possible angle without having to drop down all the time, from eg. partitions, when inside the placement mode.

uhm.... an ancient MMO like Star Wars Galaxies offered 100% movement within houses, and don't tell me that the Developers and map makers in FFXIV... goes around inside the editor doing a jump + place item to get it in a specific height.
What I am suggesting is 100% freedom to place things as you want as well as the ability to fly self around inside the house when in 'build mode'
That's how Halo's forge mode works too along with rotating, inverting and allowing to fuse things together to move sections without moving one by one and more, Halo's Forge editor is far superior than SW Galaxies and it's really user friendly too.uhm.... an ancient MMO like Star Wars Galaxies offered 100% movement within houses, and don't tell me that the Developers and map makers in FFXIV... goes around inside the editor doing a jump + place item to get it in a specific height.

I wont be opposed that or anythign you had to move with cordinates, but you could macro those... either way you could place in any angle in SWG... also topside down and banked angels. yaw/pitch/roll.... the full movement came later on in the game though. That's how Halo's forge mode works too along with rotating, inverting and allowing to fuse things together to move sections without moving one by one and more, Halo's Forge editor is far superior than SW Galaxies and it's really user friendly too.
